Mark Graham and I were talking about getting together to compare our new Wood and Tronics basses and Mark Stickley at Bass Direct offered his place for the event. Sounds good to us.

All invited, all people and basses welcome, especially any other W&T basses.

No special events other than noodling and meeting people.

I'm sure Mark (Stickley) will put the kettle on and let us play through his rigs and try other basses in his fabbo stock list.

Post if you are coming so we know how many chockie biscuits to get in :)

Simon, Mark G and Mark S.

I'm well surprised no-one else has posted on this!

It'd be great to see some other W&T owners, and it would also be great to see other BC'ers and bassists who want to check these basses out. I'm planning to head down on the Sunday with my Chronos Klimt, my Zoid Hyperbass, and I will also take my Berg IP/EX stack with SFX preamp.

It'll be a great day! Anyone else up for coming?

Mark Stickly has an answr to that one .. It goes something like
"How many basses do you currently own? Why so many? Sell them all and buy one brilliant bass"

I'm biased but I think he has a point ....

+1. That's always been my philosophy. I can't play more than one at a time, so unless each bass has a radically different sound that I'll actually use then it's wasted space having more than one. I now have a stunning fretted bass and superb fretless bass that each cost about two/two and a bit US standard Fenders. They are the best basses I have ever played and would not trade them for anything else.

If nothing else, come on down and check out what they play like. You may find yourself coming round to a more 'one-bass' way of thinking.

Ah yes, I can see your point. But, the type of bands and venues I have to play would not warrant a bass worth that much money...I dont even like using instruments between the 850-1250 region. Things might change if I actually find a band thats worth having one great bass, but thats no doubt a long time away. It would also be nice to be paid for playing once in a while, which would make me feel less guilty for spending so much.

I know what you mean. I do keep a cheaper bass around for just such gigs. But I know I'm a musician for the sheer joy of making music (with or without other people). I'm not going to deny myself the pleasure of making music through playing an instrument that I love just because I'm gigging places that (IMO) 'don't warrant' a nice bass. It's not about the gigs, it's about my enjoyment of music. The gigs are a means to an end, the music is a reward in and of itself. A quality bass only adds to that.

I'll try an come to this, sounds great and it'll be good to catch up with Mark as we missed each other at Bass Day (mark's stand was rammed the whole time!)

I'm going to try to get there but as I'm returning from Wales that morning I'm not sure that I will. I had a little play on mcgraham's fretted 5 at Nottingham and thought it was superb.

Tau! You have got to check out the new fretless. It's even better than the fretted Klimt. I was jamming with pantherairsoft on the weekend, and it was the first time since I got the fretless that I'd taken the Klimt out. The Klimt (of course) plays amazingly, but there's some subtle tweaks on the fretless that just take it to a level above the Klimt. The neck is even sweeter :) and I know that was a real favourite feature for you on the fretted.

Being Mark was kind enough to offer me a lift to this I think I shall be coming along. I am not a W&T owner, but can vouch for Marks pair being Stunning.

I'll pop down with my Roscoe & my GB, to meet some other Basschatters if nothing else!

How dare you.... guess it's my fault for wearing a low-cut top.

I'd offer another lift, but I think the number of basses we're taking might make this not so feasible.
