As self teaching newbie to bass, I find youtube a real useful aid as a learning tool, be it good or bad, but lets leave those arguments behind....

....the guys whom bass playing I tend to view obviously play the stuff I like to listern to....

+1 for MarloweDK all the way


There's an Italian guy who I used to watch- plays an old Yammy bass. I first saw him do a Jamiroquai number.
I'll have to search for him. He has a great feel.

I don't know if he really counts as an "amateur" but he was definitely the first guy that sprang to my mind. An absolute wizard and his website contains lessons too if I'm not mistaken, so a possible source of learning for you there Iconic.

Love this guy- just the right amount of flair. When I first saw him I was waiting for another Flea clone with the facials but nothing to back it up, and for him to not quite pull off what he was playing (YouTube cynicism at it's finest!) but he is so on the money for that style of music- a great player IMO.

Found him- very similar touch and feel to MarloweDK.
Check out Space Cowboy and his "How I Learned to Play Bass" vids.

Like Marlowe, every bass he plays sounds great.

I'd say 100% agreement for MarloweDK genius!!
but also check out ato71 for some Pino inspired stuff..
my favorite? markfunk71 (does what you'd expect for a "Mark") and only 2 vids!
Oh..and kingbassplayer does what it says on the tin!!

I can't believe I forgot this guy, he was the 1st guy I found, great to watch I like guys who enjoy themselves....Swiss I think.....also he used to have some older vids when he was learning...he went from good newbie, to bass god in some 18 months....to me this guy such real raw talent

Good version of 'Want You Back', not 100% perfect, but he's well into it
