iconic
As self teaching newbie to bass, I find youtube a real useful aid as a learning tool, be it good or bad, but lets leave those arguments behind.... ....the guys whom bass playing I tend to view obviously play the stuff I like to listern to.... in no particular order funkstar650 zuma canvoodoo bean9seventy...that hand position looks sooo pianful though slikktim...certaily enjoys himself carolinabass...what an accent, good teacher for me though any other gems out there? chardbass
+1 for MarloweDK all the way There's an Italian guy who I used to watch- plays an old Yammy bass. I first saw him do a Jamiroquai number. I'll have to search for him. He has a great feel.

An absolute wizard and his website contains lessons too if I'm not mistaken, so a possible source of learning for you there Iconic. [/quote] Love this guy- just the right amount of flair. When I first saw him I was waiting for another Flea clone with the facials but nothing to back it up, and for him to not quite pull off what he was playing (YouTube cynicism at it's finest!) but he is so on the money for that style of music- a great player IMO. Check out Space Cowboy and his "How I Learned to Play Bass" vids. Like Marlowe, every bass he plays sounds great.
