First/current gigging rig

Early 80s, I had a Columbus Jazz copy and a Carlsbro Stingray 115 combo. The Carlsbro had a 'Deep' button which used to make the room shake when I used it. Eventually I got fed up with carting it around and replaced it with a Trace Elliott AH100 and a 1x15 cab. The Trace is still my main gigging amp 20+ years later and now I have a real Fender Jazz bass.

The first giggable full set up which I actually paid cash money for was my Spector (still my main bass after 5 years, I don't think I'll ever let her go) and a Trace 715 combo, both from bassworld back in the day. But before that I was gigging with my tanglewood rebel 4k and borrowed amps

I saved up for months to buy an Ashdown MAG300 and built an MDF monster 210 cabinet. Served me well during the early "MouthBreather" days, later moved onto a MAG410+115 and then to the ABM300 head + ABM410.
Currently using that head but had to sell the 410 as it wouldn't fit in my car, replaced with a schroeder 1210L.

Very Red Gibson EB2 through an amp I can't remember but 100w with 4 el34's and a home made 2x15, a really good sound and would really like to use it again now. Swapped the EB for a Grabber cos I thought at the time the EB was just for old men, loaned the amp and cab to a mate and never saw them again, Tw.t.
Burns Flyte through a WEM Dominator MkII. Somewhere I've got the photos to prove it, when I can dig them out I'll put them up here.
Something I've never been able to work out, are the dommies guitar or bass amps? I have a mkIII I'm trying to flog and I've always used it as a guitar amp, but I've wondered if they started off life as a bass amp and went through the same transition as some Fenders.

It's cool looking back over the gear from yesteryear. :) Lots of people seem to be starting out on Peaveys and Carlsbros. I'm sure people talking in a similar thread in 20 years would all be talking about their old Ashdowns they wished they never sold hehe.

1984 - bedroom and garage : 79/81 Precision , Futurama valve guitar combo
1985 - gigging (16yrs old and bricking it) : same fender , H/H Bassbaby 150 watt combo . 1x12 , massive and heavy with it , all loaded into the boot of an R reg MK2 Escort with black vinyl room - rock'n'roll :)

Only thing left from the start , is the Fender . Comes out once a year . Probably stick it on here one day - only kept for sentiment .

Sorry I got the name wrong it was a Dominator Bass Mk1, which I think was basically the guitar amp with a 15" speaker More info here

First bass was an awful plywood 'Satellite' Jazz copy that I got from McGranes in Leeds (now gone) for £50, and a 10w practice amp (can't remember the brand name). First "giggable" setup was a Yamaha RBX-550M and a really lousy-sounding Laney 100w / 1x15 combo.

Currently gigging a Squier Jazz (my lovely Warwick Thumb hasn't had a gig lately) into a Hartke LH-500 into a Schroeder 1212L, but I did go through the inevitable steps of TE AH heads and 410s, and spine-destroying SVTs and 2x15 cabs, etc. along the way.

First bass I had was a Fender Precision, late 70's 3 tone sunburst bought from Alpha Music in Leeds.
Not a great time for Fenders methinks and certainly not a patch on my next bass, a JV Squier 57 Precision.

Think my first amp rig (after borrowing a Selmer Croc 50 watt T'n'B with massive matching 1x18 cab!) would have been
an Acoustic 120 head into a Leech 2x15 cab with 200 watt HH drivers.
(Still got the cab now, although currently loaded with 2x15 EV's.)

my first set up was
Washburn B2-that my folks had a Union Jack sprayed onto :) i still have it.. it means the world to me.
and i played it through a Peavey TNT130..sounded lovely (as i thought at the time) but weighed a TON!!!!!

now, mixture of Laklands,1 sandberg UmBo 5string and a Roadworn jazz..
through,Ampeg Svt Classic head and 2,2x10 classic cabs...
a tuner,Digitech Bass synth wah (a gift from Glenn hughes),Mxr bass auto Q,AShdown octave, sansamp bass driver di and a line selecter..picato strings too!

First gigging rig was a Peavey Centurion through either a fender 4 X something or a Peavey Black Widow 1X18 (monster). Played a 68 Fender Jazz through it, then a Wal.

Now, no gigging rig, all borrowed until I can splash out on an LM something.

This is a really good thread.

My first giggable setup was a Japanese Fender Jazz '75RI into a Trace 715SMC combo. Both of which I got new in '97.

I've still got and gig the Jazz bass among a few others. My friend has the Trace amp now and I have a Mesa Walkabout Scout with the matching extention cab if the gig calls for it.

First gig rig: Shergold bass, Sound City 100 valve head (should have kept that) and 2 2x12 cabs I built myself (oh, and a WEM copicat, not sure why!)
Now: Status Classic 5 string, EBS HD350 head, EBS Proline 2x10 +1x15 cabs, Line 6 M13 stomp box

Still playing the same type of music, please tell me it sounds better :) !!

What a great thread this is

First rig I played live was Squire MB4 >> Boss ODB3 >> Laney HCM65B + some random 1x12 PA cab I plugged in the extension speaker hole :)

Still have the Squire albeit without frets and the J pup gave up the ghost, and the Laney lives at a mates house, but is still mine. First ever "rig" was same bass through a Ross Fame Model 10 guitar amp (which sits 3 feet from me now as I type this).

Current rig as below in Sig.

First gigging rig was a Laney Linebacker Bass 100 head into a DIY 1x15 cab (a little later I added a DIY 2x10to the setup), and a no-name piece of crap Fender copy.

Currently gigging a Hartke HA7000 through a DIY 2x10, with either a Schecter Stiletto Studio 4, an Ibanez Musician 824 or a Peavey BXP 6.

In between there was a lot of other stuff, and I'm not done yet, not by a long shot :)

My first gig was through a Laney Hardcore 35 practice amp (okay, it was only used as a monitor and lined out into a PA - but still, lol) and a Squire Affinity P-bass.

I've just bought an Ashdown Mag200 15" Combo with a 15" Extension Cab and hoping that this will be enough for the next gig (yes, I've only gigged once).
