jonnyfastfingers
I have an agreement to buy one of these pending shipping costs and wondered what the acceptable going rate for one would be?
andy67
£1200 - £1500 dependent on condition.
Kiwi
which V8 is that Jonny?
Thornybank
Sold mine for: £1000 £1250 with matching 4x10 £1200 Price of valves has gone up since, but they are full of Ruby Tube Chinese KT88s, oft badged Trace Elliot. If it is being shipped, be sure to get the KTs removed and packed safely. There is room inside for bubbled valves to be packed neatly. Another good idea is to have a wooden wedge put into th espace between the top of each transformer and the cabinet. if hte amp is dropped on its end, then there will be hope for the chassis. Seen a few 'leaners' in my time... Good luck!

I have two on offer to me (one is yours kiwi!) and both are considerably more than £1000
Sugden
Been watching these things for about 3 years they go up and down in price like a yo-yo I've seen them go anywhere from £900 - £2000 depends how much your willing to pay and how much someone is willing to sell for. Doesn't help much but I'd say around £1200 is a fair price.
markorbit
I would have said more than £1000 too due to the hype and rarity of a Trace V8. I would expect to see them advertised at £1400+ if the condition is right. Rightly or wrongly they have attained legendary status. I have a V4 combo (with the 2nd OD channel and compressor). It has a million tubes and it is indeed real valve tone.
SS73
I paid £1450 for V8 and 810 about 18 months ago, I have seen them go for less but usually more. One on ebay not long ago with Two correct cabs 412 and 215, didn't sell at £1700 I think.

jonnyfastfingers
Does anyone know of a V4/V6/V8 going in the UK?
SS73
Do a search, last I remember a V4 combo was up, perhaps 6 months ago.
sixshooter
Sold mine about 18 months ago for £1400, it was the last known one to be build based on the serial number and went to the US. Great Amp, great sound, too heavy! Edited February 18, 2010 by sixshooter
jonnyfastfingers
It's only as heavy as an SVT Classic or something like that surely? Thing is I don't know whether it's worth paying teh extra or just going for an Ampeg with 8x10 for the same price or even less as just the Trace Head. TheButler
£1600 is too expensive AND i wouldn't trust it getting shipped all that way.

legu
Hi! Is there anybody who has Trace V8? I have. Is it normal when I change the channel t emits a popping noise ?! It is the same noise when I change with footswitch or just use the pot on the head. Does anybody the same effect? Thanks,
Rob_V8
Ive got a V8 and an 8 X 10 T.E cab ,owned it from new . I love it ,its a great recording rig but not sure how much its worth head on its own or with cab but I wouldnt sell it for less than an equivalent ampeg TBH . Like most rare valve amps they dont go down in value over time as a rule.
