bnt
There was a documentary about the making of Aja a few years ago, with interviews with all involved, including Chuck. The story of how he had to conceal his slapped part on Peg from Donald is now part of bass folklore. Hey, the bassist knows what's best for the bass! Mike
Hell yeah! My favourite band, with one of my favourite tracks. Great all round - glad to see it's in the mag.
ped
Yeah I had a look at that. On another note, the Clover Avenger bass - how stupid do they think we are? It has 5 or 6 knobs and they think it is confusing? I mean - come on. How difficult is it to remember what they do? I read that sort of thing all the time and it annoys me! Mike
Superb sound and performance, just not keen on the 'ker-razy' camera angles, apart from that, A1. Great blowing from Cornelius and nice playing from Tom Barney.

ped
My fave Steely Dan album is actually The Royal Scam. Here is a excerpt from the Two Against Nature DVD where Tom is talking about his bass: http://www.frozencloudmusic.com/~chrishisc...Bass%20Talk.mp3

I have been listening to their back catalogue and everything they have released since I first bought my vinyl copy of Aja and was blown away when I played it on my MONO Dansette Record Player. Imagine my delight the first time I heard it in glorious STEREO. Does this mean I am officially old? I agree with Tom Barney though. We definitely all need our "Binky No. 1". ped
Hehe. They have a really good sense of humour which endears me towards them even more. Very impressed wit 'Everything Must Go' too - walking along the beach with the title track playing in my big headphones with the snow falling was a glorious memory of less hectic times. Later that evening I pushed my TV off the table thing and broke it proper.
Beneath It All
Just checking out some of the Dan stuff on you tube,in particular Josie, with the drum solo by Keith Carlock; I've heard a few bands doing this tune over the years but never heard THAT Jim Keltner drum lick executed correctly ...Even Chambers played the same fill as Carlock plays on the tube.....Almost right but out by a 1/16th...?????
