BigBassBob
Hey guys, I've had a quick scan through basschat and I couldn't see a link to this. Someone from Talkbass has started making plastic bezels for Rickenbacker treble pickups designed to fill the gap that's present on basses with the pickup cover removed. See here. Just thought I'd tell you guys about it, and I'm currently in the process of ordering one for my 4003 so I'll tell you how it is once it arrives Cheers, Bob

Tech
really good idea! grown used to anchoring my thumb on that pup over the last couple of years though so not for me. would be curious how they work out for you guys though!
Bassassin
This is a great-looking solution to a perennial Rick problem, and I've never understood why Rickenbacker don't sell an "official" equivalent, (or simply a chrome mounting plate that fits closely around the pup), considering most Rick players seem to bin the handrest. Sadly this wouldn't fit any of my Fakers for various reasons, plus I like to use the top edge of the pup as a thumb anchor - I've made perspex surrounds for the 2 that I gig, which allow the pup to protrude about 5mm. I'd buy one if I had a proper Rick, though. Jon.
BigBassBob
A quick update: I fitted one to my 4003. It doesn't quite sit as flush as the ones in the pictures because the pickup surround (on MY bass) is a bit too narrow to let it sit comfortably. There's a small gap of about half an inch if that where it's recessed. Looks good though and it's definitely an improvement.
spongebob
I've always kept my pup guards on. I love the look, and TBH, I always feel awkward with other shapes because it's not there!
