mic mac moe Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Hey chaps, just got my knockabout bass back from fitters and thought I should share my experience.Picked up this Westfield P copy in a graphitey grey finish new to do lessons with. Kind of liked it so thought about a minor refit to up the stakes a bit. After a scour of ebay,I was surprised to find how little I could do this for! Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles was about £15.A lot heavier than the "bent tin" thing that came off,but thats a good thing right? Wilkinson P pickup-again around £15 but came without any screws. My mate fit it in for £5. Set of elites £15. This bass now sounds incredible.Smooth yet powerful.A little toppier than USA P but hey! Not nearly as "scratchy" sounding as a MIM P.Looks great, plays great. Will I be gigging this bass? Absolutely!!!! I may even leave the headstock logo on!!!!! Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Sounds good - I think I've mentioned before that I've had a few of the Westfield guitars as rental instruments for students & they've all been great. I think I bought the basic strats for £55 each including the case & the more expensive model with uprated pickups for £69. Unbeatable value. Any pics of your bass? Quote
numptydumpty Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 There always seem to be those pink/maple Westfields on ebay.Might look good as Black/Maple? Quote
