mgibson
Sorry as this is probably already on here already. I was just going to say how nice it is that scales effectivley boil down to a series of almost binary like 1's and 2's meaning that all I need to do is learn these major and minor and so on, 'codes' and then you can tell me a scale, I go there on the finger board and play the scale. If you can't make sense of this post you can read better than me.

ThomBassmonkey
I just stick to the chromatic, it's a lot harder to get wrong than it is to get right. Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone, Semitone is a lot easier to remember than Tone, Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone, Tone, Semitone or Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone. If it doesn't fit, just say it's jazz.
