Best bedroom bass amp/combo?

I use a Park 25 watt amp. It has lasted 11 years without any issues. The tone is actually pretty good. Apart from the VBA 400 its the best bass amp I have tried that is associated with Marshall. I'm guessing that most of the modern practice amps have a lot more cool features though! I love the new little EBS combo and once saw a little HiWatt combo in a shop that at least looked awesome.

I would love a cool practice amp, but until this one breaks I'm gonna just make do.

I'm currently using a Danelectro honeytone with a pair of active Behringer monitors plugged into the headphone out........

But off to MusikMesse next week so a decision can finally be made between a Promethean, Phill Jones and Markbass Mini 121.

Having said all that I'll probably end up with an Orange Crush 50 as I just can't justify the cost of the others at the moment.

Id love one of those...I often think of selling the LM3 to get a combo but not sure I want to just yet.

I bought a Crate BT50 on eBay for £80. 50W, 1x12. Has a crazy distortion channel you wouldn't want to bother with and a built in tuner which is a nice idea, but works only adequately. Otherwise, as a straightforward bass amp, it is actually rather good. And it's loud enough for practice with drummer with full kit and guitarist with Les Paul and Mesa amp. Might even use it for a small gig one day.

Nothing wrong with the Ashdown amps - in fact there's a nice one for sale below, in my signature :)
The little Line 6 110 amp looks good for bedroom practice. Small, loud'ish if required as a back up amp with DI out and headphones out which is important. Some amp modelling as well if that's your thing.
Another +1. Brilliant little amp, it's only a 12" cube and therefore almost unnoticeable in any room.

Wish I had got this instead of the Orange Pix 25 which I am really underwhelmed by :)

Cheers Jack, I will of course be at the Emirates. Crush West Ham? I am not so sure, they have previous with us (beat us a few times in last couple of seasons including at Emirates)

I have the Ashdown Perfect 10. Not bad at all, 30w, headphone socket, cd input so you can play along, 10" speaker, and about £100 brand new. Looks pretty cool too.

Yep, IMHO. But this thread was about tiny bedroom practice combos, Gareth :)

I always struggle with finding a tiny combo...I always think 'is it worth it' or 'should I just use what Ive got'. I still dont know whats best.

Advantages are that I can plug in and not go to stupid volumes, negatives are that will end up gassing for the best.

From the general consensus, the Roland and Line 6 combos seem pretty good.

But thennnn I think, why not just get a nice 1x12 and use one of my amps. Hmmm.

The joys of GAS.

Is the Orange not what you hoped?

Nope, very limited tonal range with a distinct percussive thwack on most notes (which I find a bit annoying). Virtually impossible to get a nice rounded warm tone out of it, even with a P bass.

An interesting thread this because I've been thinking about changing my bedroom combo for some time.

When I took up bass again I just looked around for the cheapest thing that I could find and got a Peavey Max 126. Diddy little 10W thing but I tend to practice fairly quietly anyway. It's served me fine for the past 4 years, no complaints.

But then I noticed in my Bass Direct email that PJB have a new small combo on the market, The Cub.

Looks very nice, great spec and immediately GAS starts to rise. I could afford it if I wanted.

A sensible person would point out these 4 things:

You've never heard the thing

It's too underpowered to gig and it's too overpowered for bedroom practicing

There really is nothing wrong with what you've got

It costs £400 - think what else you could do with £400...
At the moment the sensible person is winning...
Roland Cube RX bass.
I agree with the Roland Cube RX, it comes with packed with stuff:

1. Stereo effects: autowah, reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Delay

2. Cab simulators, hartke / Fender Bassman, Ampeg, Trace and other

3. Drum Machine!!

4. Auxiliar input for an mp3 player tp play along with real music.

5. Works on batteries as well as mains (ac adaptor included)

6. Chromatic tuner

7. Carrying straps

8. On board EQ

9. Headphone output for quiet practicing

But the best thing about it is that it actually sounds great and can give a surprisingly big sound for such a small package.
What more do you want

That combo actually seems quite reasonable for high end gear...what, I wonder, is the tone like?!
