Moving the "office" around so moving and cataloguing all my pedals - I actually thought I had more than this -

I just saw this again and it looks joyful

what's the big black box?

It is a DC/DC Voltage converter.

The Original needs a 12VAC power supply to produce internal +12/-12v.

Works apart from 2 additional stupid mistakes, I forgot a cap on one of the gain stages (cut a trace and add a cap across 2 pads) and the pins on the j201 symbol are apparently wrong, so the through hole and SMT pads are wrong. I had some through hole j113s that I twisted the legs on and seen to work just fine. I was in a rush to get them made and skipped some more thorough double checking...

I'm gonna redesign the board but you're welcome to one of these, they're simple hacks (I'll cut the trace so you know it's the right one)

Hi there, do you have these?  I love the pedal and would like to make one!  Would you also have design files/gerbers/etc?

My work has Altium and they don't care if we use it for our own stuff.

The first a Barbershop variation from member pf FSB, the relay was my layout using the VFE FET bypass and PIC controller.

Barbershop really picky about the LDSS on the J201 on Q1 and Q2 so don’t use any assembly service on those parts! (You may know this) - is Q3 on the other side of the board?

I got the new boards and the test build worked but it had a nasty hum. I was trouble shooting it but other things got in the way and I never finished. Something to look at over Xmas, I'll PM you the schematic/Gerbers though. I'm very bad at PCB design so there may well be a schoolboy error.

Can I just interrupt our scheduled etc,etc to recommend Switch Electronics. They have a lot of the stock that we usually go to Tayda for, (eddystone cases, pots, connectors, semis, passives, non-sh1tty stripboard, loads of goodies, all with data sheets) almost as cheap and next-day delivery for 3 quid, free over 30 quid. Great customer service too, a parcel got misdelivered and there was a replacement in the post the same day.

It was actually @dylan159 from FSB's interpretation of the Barbershop, so they had left off Q3.  I think it sounds pretty comparable to the V1 and V2 versions of the Barbershop that I've built in the past.

Actually I say same, but with 4 stages not 2/3 so might be wrong there!!

Yep, using an effectslayout PCB.  Haven't had much of a chance to play around with it but I do like it.

Ar$3ing about with a Wah and a Bass Wah... Buffer Removal, Tru Bypass, and LED.

Thought i'd use one of them daughter boards on the switch.

All wired up, Wah Effect with LED Fine, But No Signal on the By Pass.

Taxing my mind! Wrong Wire, or needs a link at the Switch, as the Jacks are on the Board... Thoughts?

Have you connected the earth of the input and output jacks?

I'm looking forward to getting back to doing some pedal building. It's been a while since I've wielded my soldering iron at a pedal but I'm getting a Megalith kit from Fuzz Dog for Christmas. Should be fun and filthy!

Also ended up with an Acapulco Gold clone too 😁

Ditto. I use switch for most of my components and they’ve been great.

Well, that was largely straightforward! Just built the Acapulco Gold. It's a TINY enclosure, which is what made it take a bit longer. When I first tried it out, I think something was shorting on the inside. I pulled everything out a bit and it was fine, so I popped a bit of cardboard between the pot and board, and the board and lid and it fired up! I won't have the chance to try it out properly until next practice in the new year. Sounded good from what I could tell though!

I set to work on the Megalith this evening. It was all about to go perfectly. It was tidy, in the enclosure, but then wasn't doing anything. I've double checked the resistor and capacitor values, re flowed the joints, then realised I've put the diode in the wrong way round 🤦 So I've ordered some more and will attempt to fix it when they arrive.

The Fuzz Dog kits are great though. Everything fits so neatly. I'll definitely see about getting another one or two a bit down the line. It was so neat when everything was in there!
