Status Hotwire Strings

I've been looking with interest at the strings on the Status website. I notice that they do a round core version of their "Hotwires" string. Since switching to DR Hi Beams a few years ago I find all other strings lacking in feel, but am wondering if these might be a good, cheaper alternative? Has anybody tried these? Even better, if you have tried both, how do you reckon they compare to the DR's?

I used to use them a fair bit but then had two duff sets in a row so now so I prefer to use other brands chosen to suit the sound of my basses.
