vmaxblues Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) What we have here is a light, super slim necked 4 string beauty! This has been made by Luthier Les Evans based in Liverpool. It has a 7 piece maple and bubinga neck with six set bolt fixing, maple body, schaller hardware, kent armstrong pickups, john east u-retro with passive switch. The neck is really slim and fast and the tone is superb. This bass oozes quality and is a joy to play, but I have waaayyyy too many basses currently and this needs to go to a good home. I am looking for a nice quality fretless in exchange, cash either way Cheers Stuart Here are some pics: Edited March 15, 2010 by vmaxblues

lozbass Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) This looks gorgeous - especially the neck! Is it the bass that Greeneking was selling in January of last year? I can't access the images in the previous posts but I suspect it's the same instrument. Can you give some indication of condition - any marks, dings, scratches etc. - also, is there a case? Edited February 26, 2010 by lozbass
vmaxblues Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 It is in immaculate condition, no marks or dings that i can see. I would include a hardcase with it. You have to play it to believe it! Cheers sTUART

Schnozzalee Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 The neck was pretty darn amazing, great solid build. Bump!
Schnozzalee Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Do Schaller do Drop D's? What was the weight? Edited March 1, 2010 by Schnozzalee
vmaxblues Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 I will have to weigh it for you on the trusty scales, but it is a lightweight bass, lot lighter even than my Dolphin, and yes schaller do do drop D tuners! Cheers Stuart
vmaxblues Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Back from London bump, also might be interested in trades.
fleabag Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited)
Is it the bass that Greeneking was selling in January of last year?
yup - the very same http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=les+Evans Edited March 4, 2010 by fleabag
vmaxblues Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 Looking at that thread it looks like I need to relook at the price, I got this in a trade deal and allowed in the end a lot more on it! Therefore, I will let it go with a case for £ 500. Cheers Stuart
Bass Culture Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 This bass was originally built for me and I can happily attest to the quality, sound and sheer playability of this beauty. The neck is ridiculous - in a good way! If I wasn't now Roscoe-ed up I'd seriously be looking at buying this back. £500 is a steal - seriously. Good luck with the sale. mark
vmaxblues Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Cheers Mark for the comments, it's always nice to know the lineage of the instrument. It is without doubt the easiest neck in the world to play, and I am glad about your comment on price, because this bass is such quality I am starting to think I am underpricing it!
vmaxblues Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 I believe it is 34", but I am at work currently, but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong! It certainly isn't short scale, lovely slim neck and all that too!
Bass Culture Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010
What's the scale length?
Standard long scale - 34"
vmaxblues Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Now back up for trades for a nice fretless!
vmaxblues Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 or possibly a Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 and some cash....
