Ah I suppose if you loterally just want the plug then that is the best option yes!!

thx, those first ones are rubish, VERY unreliable, the Neutriks are too expensive for patch leads, I was asking about that particular model coz I have some cables with those on and they're great, and I remember in bassworld some1 posted a link to a shop that sold them... I can do the cables myself, just would like to have those specific plugs...

Farnell sell the Neutrik right-angle jack for £2.13+VAT. Minimum order (including whatever else you might want) is £20 though - I usually seem to think of something however and postage is free.

Edit: £1.88+VAT if you buy 10. Farnell are an extremely efficient operation BTW.

Personally I wouldn't use anything other than the Neutrik connectors, they've a proper cable clamp and a well put togther lead is close to indestructible.

Not being funny - but what difference does being a patch lead make? If it is in the signal path it is just as important as any other jack.

Farnells delivery charges are :

That makes it very expensive to buy a single connector or even a few. If anyone needs the occasional jack plug then pm me.

But, I placed an order for stuff today and can confirm that for credit card orders at least, anything over £20+VAT is indeed FREE delivery and has been for as long as I can remember. I've made dozens of orders with Farnell and have never paid a penny for shipping.

Of course they won't give the friendly, Bass Player Aware (tm) treatment that you can, and that counts for a lot.

Interesting. I use a different part of Farnell which is where those shipping charges came from. Unit prices are less but you have to spend more for free shipping.

Yes, I think I'm just on the "ordinary mortal" level of Farnell account. Amazing how many of my orders are only just over £20. They must have a hell of a deal with UPS... Couldn't live without Farnell, but I hate to think what that says about me!

The difference is, if you're gonna make 4 or 5 patch leads, which are going to be on ur board the whole time not subject to a lot of strain, you can buy good quality plugs without having to go for Neutrik and save some pounds, and leave the Neutrik for the long cables that are going to be pulled and stepped on and that ur going to use all the time, even in situations when not needing effects.

I find that the "full" Neutriks are too fat for use on a pedal board anyway. The "budget" Neutrik connectors (I think the original looked like a Neutrik budget job - slightly square at the top) are great because they are around half the size and the square top means they fit neat and close together.

Any Jack plug with a cable grip is essentially indestructible unless you do stupid things when using / coiling them.

The only lead I have bought since working for a music venue was a 20ft Monster Pro Studio cable, and the only reason I bought that was it was in some guys box of stuff for sale at a guitar show, marked "£5 to clear"...

The rest (three long uns and countless patch leads, as well as all leads for our PA, other band members etc., have been resurrected after being left for dead. Usually 2 minutes with a soldering iron will be enough to fix em, and with practice you can get a solder joint as solid as a machine, if not better.

Incidently, the biggest cause of the signal core of a guitar lead detaching is people treating leads badly - don't loop them round your arm, or tie them in knots, or just screw them up. If you hold a lead in front of you in both hands, hands about 2/3 or a meter apart, then slowly bring your hands together you will find the coiling point of the cable. Coil it like that, every time, and your leads should last for ever!

Agreed. If I didn't like George L's so much those are what I'd get.
