"Geddy" Pickup Height set up.

After checking the Fender website for the correct pick up height for my Geddy Jazz and checking it, I've found that the neck pup is out. When I undo the pup screws to try to raise the pup to the correct height it won't raise, it's just loose.
Do I have to pack under it to get it to the correct height or is there something wrong?

Probably - I did, any hard foam will do. Grey pipe lagging foam is great - 60p for a metre and enough to do most of the UK's basses.
