Just got in from a gig in The Underworld, Camden, as main support to The Guana Batz.

Great on stage sound made the gig really enjoyable, and the applause & reaction from the pretty much packed out crowd was great.

I used my Ashdown RM500 this eve as space in the car was limited, this put through the venues Orange OBC410, gave a great sound.

Overall a very enjoyable gig.

Finally got some pics of this one

This was the 2nd gig of 2023 for us and it was a cracker. Pretty much a full house at one of the best venues on our circuit and the atmosphere was a bit special. I fell off the gear abstinence wagon already and used my new to me Orange 4 Stroke amp - I'm really pleased with it so far. It weighs half as much as my normal Mesa BB750 and sounds really similar. It's a lovely meaty big rock amp.

Just arrived home from Skegness where we was playing with the Verity/Bromham band. I kept things simple, Squier Jazz into a Zoom b1fourx (just compression) then into the house SVT Classic and 8x10. Best tone evaaaaaaah! We went down a storm and I won the prize for the lariest trousers. Even had a guy come up on stage and propose to his Girlfriend! Nice one! You competing with Martin Turner on the trouser front?

Bit late on these but it's an amusing juxtaposition... Friday 6th Jan, Great British Folk Festival. Our guitarist donned his Crass T-Shirt but other than that we played a very civilised acoustic/folk set to a massive sitting audience. Polite applause at the end of each song is all we got, but no-one left the room which was near capacity. Apparently it was a great reaction from this crowd, just a lot more subdued than we're used to.

Wednesday 11th at the 100 Club supporting Subhumans couldn't have been more different. The venue is about 1/4 of the size for a start. It was absolutely rammed and they went crazy for us, even though most people were there for Subhumans. I love the 100 Club but it's very difficult because of the shape of the room. The PA fires everything straight at the back wall which immediately bounces back on stage. I was absolutely hammering the drums just to make myself heard on stage. I've never had so many compliments after a gig so we obviously did something right.

I hope she said yes. Bit awkward if not. (Just realised I've replied to the wrong comment. My apologies)

Played a couple of gigs at the end of last week in Weston Super Mare and then Wimborne in Dorset.

Both theatres sold out, which always makes for more atmosphere. A long journey in torrential rain

but still well worth it. Absolutely knackered the next day though! 😫

No photos but there is a dodgy phone camera recording, does that count? The White Line in Newcastle.

First live appearance of 2023 was an acoustic night at a local pub. My 80s goth duo have been focusing on synths & drum machines, only to have to suddenly use the other side of our brains last night. Woefully under-rehearsed, we lurked outside the ladies loos, armed with a mandocello and a mandolin! Very high standard last night and we had a couple of old school friends come down (the origins of Deadlight Dance are a bad 6th form Goth band) and against all odds, we nailed it. We did our forthcoming synth heavy single stripped down, along with songs by The Cure, Sisters of Mercy and wildcard versions of OMD and (our nod to the modern) The Weeknd. My favourite compliment, we were "intense!"

Meanwhile if you see this chap hanging around outside the loos, he's harmless, just a little under-rehearsed!

Oh, great...just when I thought my GAS was completely done, now I want a mandocello... 🙁🙂

And I want to hear The Sisters Of Mercy done on mandolin and mandocello...

We played at The Angel Inn in Andover last night, had a few of our regulars make the journey from Salisbury to see our first outing of the year, smallish crowd to start with and then the place soon filled up, lots of singing and even some dancing on the bar, so a great night was had by all.

First gig with the Marshall VBA400 - I’d been hankering for a valve amp since joining this band as we do classic rock covers, and wanted that sound - wow!  It certainly does that in spades, even had my jeans flapping a few times, reminded me of my younger days! Very happy😊👍🏻

Just got back from playing a gig at "The Pub" Lancaster. Small stage but a great venue. Was really busy sold some merch. Good night. 3 hour drive there and 2.5 back. It's almost 4 in the morning. Absolutely knackered and ready for bed. But it was worth it. Rock n roll.

I still have my Barefaced cab for the really tricky load-ins, and to be honest it sounds equally as good as the 412.

That is the only draw back, but it sounds so good so totally worth it, anyway, that’s what band mates are for😁
