steantval Posted Monday at 17:01 Posted Monday at 17:01 (edited) All the guys got home safely from the gig on Saturday night in the heavy snow, the guitarist a driving instructor, mentioned he hit a curb because the edge of the road was so covered in snow. I've been really lucky where i am in Lanark area. So far i've had 20-25mm of snow last night but local roads are perfectly clear. Looks quite bad in some areas down South. Good to hear everyone got home safely and hopefully no permanent damage to the guitarists car. Dave 1 Quote

First time in 10 years that I haven't had the Flu jab and, yup, came down with a dose on XMas eve eve. Scuppered the XMas eve gig (and XMas dinner that I'd pre-paid....) and the betweeny Saturday. Was just about compos mentis for NYE and managed to get through it. To be honest, the gigs I did make weren't the best, not as well populated as usual, not sure if this is a trend but I've noticed the last couple of silly seasons have been hit or miss for gigs. Still we take the rough with the smooth. On the positive side our IPO registration for the new band name came through so an ex-band member who had caused 'difficulties' after leaving the band can no longer cause grief on that front. A bit of a break now as I go in for more surgery but will hopefully be back at it beginning of Feb. Ouch ! Of all the times to catch the flu. All the best with surgery and hopefully you'll be back into gigging and preparation for next Christmas. "IT'S CHRISTMAS" Dave Edited Monday at 18:11 by dmccombe7 2 Quote
cheddatom Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 100 Club on Sunday night supporting Ferocious Dog again. It's a very shallow stage but I managed to get my drums set up to the side of theirs. I do love playing here despite the challenging sound. The room is so thin, you get loads of FOH bouncing back off the wall. I am still seriously injured but the others moved all of my gear for me, which was most appreciated. The set went OK but I'm known to our fans as "the smiley drummer" and I was apparently smiling a lot less than usual. Our frontman embarrassed me by demanding sympathy from the crowd... but at least that meant they all knew not to squeeze my ribs right? Nope, two different fans asked for selfies and when I agreed they put their arm around me, grabbing me by the ribs and causing my to cry out in agony. Oh well!!! Here's my bright red kit looking cool AF next to Ferocious Dog's boring effort! 13 Quote

Lozz196 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago It’s a great stage/venue, Dave, I’ve been fortunate enough to play there a few times, a venue that as a youngster I dreamed of playing. 5 Quote

Lozz196 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago It’s in Oxford Street, that London. Number 100 hence the name. Was the setting of the first ever Punk Festival (so my main reason for wanting to play there). 1 Quote

It gets mentioned in quite a few of the music 'history' books I read (musicians autobiographies etc) - one of the places I'd love to visit. One of my mates bands plays at the Hope and Anchor from time to time though......🤘 2 Quote

My local venue was the largest "pub" rock venue in UK at one time. Held approx 300 in its function hall upstairs from its bar and lounge. So many famous bands played there from King to Iron Maiden, Marillion, Pallas, Jack Bruce, Altered Images and so many others over the years. I was lucky enough to play it 2-3 times before it finally closed its doors around 86. Happy days. Dave 2 Quote

While the Doms were a diminutive three piece, by the time all the Mutiods were in the venue with their multifarious things to hit and their MadMax sculptures you could barely get the crowd in! 1 Quote

At the Sub in Cleethorpes it was - still got the ticket stub somewhere! It was hearing the thunderous Ricky tones from Graeme Murray that got me into dreaming about getting one......😁🤘 1 Quote

Still enjoy their music. Graeme is an absolute legend to me. Stunning powerful prog bassist that also sand and played bass pedals too. Dave Quote

Dave Not sure who the singer was - I'll have to dig the ticket stub out and see who was in the line-up at the time. Have currently got The Sentinel in heavy rotation in the car CD player..... 1 Quote

Yep Magnum played my local gig The Heathery too not long after their successful Marauder album if i remember right. We gave them a hand to load in as we would get free access at night and a few free beers. I do remember the singer being a bit aloof towards us. I think it was Mark Stanway on keys and he was brilliant to chat with. No-one had to touch the drummers gear except him so it was all a bit over the top twa*ish. I loved the music but the band were all a bit strange in our opinion. Kinda put me off them from there on. Dave Quote

I had that as well. That was a long, long time ago, but snippets from that album live on in my synth playing for some reason. 1 Quote

Remember my uncle and aunt going there when I was wee - my dads aunt stayed (and still stays) on Heathery Road. I do vaguely remember my uncle telling me he saw Magnum in there, I told the guitarist in my old band this and he looked at me like I was an idiot! Thought maybe I'd just made it up/had a false memory, but looks like I didn't. I'll have to find out this week who else they saw there. 2 Quote
