In my last band we were regularly asked to pose with people for photos, sign merch/set-lists etc. All part & parcel of it I suppose but at 50 plus and being rather uninteresting (to put it mildly) I always felt a bit of a fraud doing this.

I'm the opposite and would quite happily wait in the changing room until the venue is empty and then strip down my gear. With the Glam band most people don't recognise me when i walk out to strip down my gear. Maybe i should get a band t-shirt with "Road Crew" stamped on the back. :laugh1:

Dave

Exactly the same with me with our Glam Band Dave.  The number of times I've been asked if I'm with the band or part of the 'shifting and lifting crew' is significant.

A rare outing on lead guitar with Deadlight for our producer’s 60th 🎉 It wound up being a showcase of all the local talent, with tonnes of variety. Our original 80s inspired goth is always very well received and we had loads of friendly heckles - “you two are too polite to be goth”, to which I replied, “it’s a very misunderstood genre!”. A really special night and a pleasure to be a small part of it.

I think that's how i feel about it. At 64 i don't feel i'm anything special but usually they just love the show.

T-shirt with Road Crew - Bass Tech is my suggested move. :laugh1:

 Hi Dave,

At 71, I feel more intimidated than special. Most folks that come to our shows are in the same boat as me. Just trying to eek by in life with a little dignity.  Lol

I did my regular Wednesday Bandeoke this week. Usually I take a small, light rig, for convenience as much as anything. However I watched Bass The World's review of the new Orange valve head yesterday, and it gave me a hankering to enjoy a proper amp.

So tonight I used this set up

and it was an unforgettable experience. A bass you can feel as much as hear, a tone to die for, it was worth every ounce.

You too, Dave.

Keep us posted on the status of the Glam band

Daryl

Looks like they are going to run it to the end of the year and after the Hogmanay gig that will be it, unless they manage to change my mind before then. 🤩

Is that the all valve 44Kg amp head ? Did you hire a forklift to get it in position atop of those amazing bass cabs. :laugh1:

Yep. It's the real deal. I have a system for moving it. But I won't lie it is a beast

They are a misery the lug around. And make a terrible sound if they get dropped.

Did the venue survive? 🤣

SATURDAY!
She's Right - I'm Left at MOTOR Bar & Restaurant 5:30-8:30pm!
Bourbon and BBQ specials! We’ll provide the tunes!

This Harley gigs are starting to concern me. The crowds have been weak the last two times we've played there. 6 out of 30 diner tables were filled.
