And do you think it'd be ok to velcro them on top of each other on an effects board?

Why do you need 10 amps, do you play in Blackpool or something?

That makes alot of sense if you have alot of "bastard" voltage FX.

If Diago can not produce a 12v adapter then I think i'll go the same route as yourself with the Maplin adapters.
