Demeter HB600

Hi guys

I've been offered a Demeter HB600, which is an amp I've wanted for years.

Thing is the seller has no idea what to ask for it, given how expensive it was originally and how rare they are, so no second hand values to benchmark against.

A new one from the US is coming it at £1900 shipped with import duties paid, and the only new one I can find in the EU is the equivalent of £1700 plus postage. I was thinking of offering £900; what do you guys think?

Cheers

Gareth

That seems a fair price all round. The pre-amp would be between £400 and £500 and then chuck in a power amp (I'm guessing that the power stage is nicely specced being a Demeter) and you would be there. I am biased, but the pre is very nice indeed.

hmmm...so he has no idea but wants 1400eu..??

Did he buy it from new..? he must then know what it cost him..
How did he get it..? how long has he had it..?

Is it worth 1400eu to you..?
Has he got other buyers interested?
Have you heard your bass through it..?

Does he know your offer..?
Do you have cash and know anything about him..?

He sounds like a chancer who has 'aquired' this by some means... and know he has done some research and got the new retail on it.
I may be wrong on him, of course.

But I'd tell him I have the cash and then go cold on it..and see if he comes back to you.

If you have to go to him, then you might have to meet him half way and decide if £1100 is worth it.

You could say 1000eu, final offer and then walk away ..and MEAN it.
