Got to try one of these at Bass Direct last weekend, and they are indeed a fantastic bass - soooo much output from those passive pickups, and the quality in construction and finishing s as good as anything I've ever seen. They are indeed a 'mega-Precision', but much as I like that sort of thing, I just don't like the looks (although a maple board would help), so they're not on my GAS radar. Interestingly, although Glenn Hughes has a maple-boarded one and is a very vocal endorser, he still used a 'real' Precision for the Black Country Communion album. Bet Yamaha were delighted... :)

I love my P Basses but the Yamaha is a very different beast in terms of sound and playability. The neck is more of a Jazz profile and the pick ups are super punchy with an almost 'active' nature to the depth and clarity of the sounds

As an observation, the neck on the BB2024x has a similar profile to a MusicMan Sterling - it's like a J at the nut but deeper, there's more wood to get hold of.

Those of you who picked up one of these, can I ask how you feel about them now, after a few months of living with it? I'm still hearing it call my name.
