Ampeg SVT 6 Pro Feedback

Hi guys!

I recently brought an Ampeg SVT 6 Pro. I play with a Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass but when the Jazz pick up is on, its seems to cause feedback. Its ok if I stand away from it, but if I'm sat practising I like to be close to the amp so I can play around with the settings and get to no every thing blah blah blah.

Any ideas on what this could be or how I could solve this?

Also, there is a few quiet pops coming out of the cab (Ampeg SVT 410hlf), could that be down to the amp??

I no that amp is to powerfull for that cab but I'm waiting on another cab to come along to even the power out.
