waynepunkdude Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I just showed the missus the natural one, the conversation went: "Look at this dear" "it's pretty, you have really started to like natural basses lately" "indeed, but you would kill me if I brought it home" "If we have the money and the space you can have as many basses as you like" This one's a keeper. The girlfriend said to me I can spend as much as I like on instruments as long as I have the cash to spare! Definitely a keeper hahahah. Quote
EssentialTension Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010
Is it me or is the fourth knob on the Precision too close to the jack socket? All looks a little too bunched up for me. Why didn't they put the jack socket on the lower edge? See Oly White one below:
I think it's the passive switch which is between the fourth knob and the last pickguard screw and the jack is on the side. Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Control plate too crowded? I thought basses had to have at least five rotary controls to be any good? Quote

basshead56 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 These look promising. I have 97 P Deluxe and its my main gigging bass. Have to say its great, but these look much nicer! Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 They've finally appeared on the main Fender website... The black Precision looks rather nice There's also sunburst & olympic white, but I couldn't be bothered to copy and paste that many image URL's! Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 I wonder which Baschatter is taking the plunge first?! I would but cant quite afford one at the moment. Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Yes, it looks like they're using the same bodies as the Am.Std this time. It's good business sense to delete the smaller body shape they used to use for the Deluxe model. Quote
XB26354 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Please please someone tell them to use two-piece bodies for the natural basses, or at least do a cursory bit of grain matching if they're going to stick three bits of wood together! Natural PJ looks very nice, as does the B/B/M one. Quote
Shambo Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I see a black body jazz with a maple board, a white body with a rosewood board... Where's the black body jazz with a rosewood board? Like the mexican 70's reissue? Bah! Quote
Am i in the minority speaking up for the smaller size body - I love the look of the jazz and the feel of the necks (on most) but the huge (to me) body size puts me off - loved my Status t-bass Jazz clone but felt it was wearing me when I played it. Blocks and binding do it for me though so these look cracking not sure about the P with the extra pick-up and controls tho'. BB Quote
