yes its me waffling on about a band i like again........but.....just wanted to post some Incognito tunes who may havent heard of some new, ish stuff... or post the word for those who dont..or bore everyone else...

me and my sister and mother love this band so much...always cutting edge on the soul funk scene for me..always good production with a killer brass section!!.. there just unique (ok not that unique) and they do what they do better than anyone in the world......makes me proud to love jazz funk soul and be british..fantastic soul jazz thats better than any US band imo..

i spoke with Bluey once and he said his main aim is bringing out his own sound as a band and his arranging, which i think hes a master at...

class bass playing as always... J Crampton and RHT being the highlight as always..the guys are incredible...

'Solar Fire' Randy's bass playing boggles the mind with his super 16th note groove

Wow, B5, you're on a roll tonight! Some excellent posts there, dude - and quite an eclectic mix too.
I've been trawlin' the 'tube for some particular bits and pieces but think I'll wait til tomorrow to post as I'm on my second box of matchsticks as it is, trying to keep my eyes open!

(No biggie, but I just realized this post replying to bubinga5 should have gone in the 'Funk and Groove' thread. Well, it was late! :) )

Cool stuff! I lost track of Incognito after 'Tribes Vibes and Scribes' but looks like I better pick up some of their later albums.

This was the soundtrack to my latter years at Uni in the early/mid-80s (the early years were Joy Division, Ech, 23 Skidoo etc). I had the first album by Incognito (was it called 'Behind the Mask'?), which I adored at the time, and a spin-off album they made which I thought was was nearly as good called 'The warriors'. Weren't they linked in the early days with Freez (as in the big hit 'The Southern Freez')?

Ah, coming back to me now. There was a huge British funk/jazz-funk scene in the early-mid 80s which was partly fuelled by former punk/new wave bands crossing over to funk (eg A Certain Ratio, 23 Skidoo). Funkapolitan were the other biggies I used to listen to at the time, along with Incognito, LOTW etc.
