sharpester
I have finally admitted to myself that I am never going to the guitarist I'd like to be. So I am going to concentrate my time improving my bass playing which seems to come more naturally. With that in mind I'm thinking of upgrading to a new SG bass Can anyone explain why the SG Standard bass is £300 + more than the Faded? Apart from the finish & inlays the specs appear the same to me. I like the 'worn' look of the Faded so the finish isn't an issue. If anyone has any thoughts/ opinions on the SG bass I'd be grateful to hear them. Thanks Rob
~tl
Basically, it's down to the time/effort that it takes to add those small extras. Installing the fancy inlays and applying a high-gloss finish add significantly to the build time, which results in a higher cost being passed down to the customer. If you're happy with the faded finish, then you're getting essentially the same bass cheaper.
merello
Get the faded and relic it naturally by playing it! Noticed McCartney's 'bass player' uses an SG.
