Hit&Run Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Didn't Maggie Bell sing the theme tune to Taggart? Quote

Looks like a cracking line up !
Yes, saw them at the Great British Beer Festival at Earl's Court back in August. Can't say I was that impressed with Ms Bell - she can sing alright but gave the impression that she wanted to be somewhere else. Zoot Money, Millar Anderson & the Hodge delivered by the truckload though - only two showcases for CH (San Francisco Bay Blues & Walking Blues), which was slightly disappointing from my perspective, but still left me feeling like a hopeless fumbler. Enjoy. Pete. Quote

chris_b Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Colin Hodgkinson is currently planning to go into the studio to record a new Back Door album. Quote

It was recorded in 2004 just before Ron Aspery died and contains some new material as well as some of the old standards. Despite the fact that it says 'stocked by the Bass Centre' on the site, it isn't. In fact the last time I went in there, the staff hadn't heard of Back Door or Colin Hodgkinson. Quote

SJA Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I got Colin H's album the Bottom Line at the Bass centre- but that was back in the good ol' days when they were in Wapping. Quote

Managed to collar him for 5 mins at the GBBF, & he said that he was recording with Chris Rea. Not my usual fare, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Pete. Quote
NickThomas Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 I think I'll be seeing them at the Hailsham gig . Should be a goodun Quote
NickThomas Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 Well I saw them last night and had a great night . The whole band were just enjoying what they were doing so much, and the whole unit was tight as a ducks a$$. Well maybe a slightly elderly duck lol I had a good chat with Colin and he's an absolute gent. A proper bassists bassist. Happy days Nick. Quote

It was when they were still in Wapping though, so maybe new staff/management? Quote
