and pickup wiring diagrams-

an ON/ON/ON switch should give you series/single/parallel selections.

a continuity tester or multimeter comes in handy for figuring out switch contacts and pickup wires.

so i got fed up with trying to make the perfect finish and screwed everything together today.
Its alive

Sorted out the switching. Im not sure it's been done right as I'm not sure any of them are single coil but i have 3 very different sounds at the flic of a switch. The tone pot is ace too. Notmaly on my P bass I leave the thing full open. on this bass the tone control tottally changes the feel of the bass. It seems more like a pup blend!
the whole thing sounds big and fat, its not got much treble to it but it has lots of big hitting mids. It not a perfect bass but it sounds better than a £100 i spent on it. It can also do a nice deep dubby sound which My P can kinda go and the streamer no chance.
Ive also never played fretless before and it took me about 5 seconds to get used to it. Its not difficult and it seems so much more freeing. the note also has this really nice build up to it, i dont know how to decribe it.
photos and sond clips to come

thanks to everyone who sold me bits and offered advice. Without basschat it would never have happened

if you've wired it right the centre position (of an ON/ON/ON toggle switch) should be single coil-
you can check by touching the polepieces to see if just one row/coil is connected.
if it's the neck-most coil selected it will sound a bit like a Rick bridge pickup.
the bridge-most coil will sound more like a Jazz bass bridge pickup.

parallel should sound scooped like a stingray (bring on the Pino impressions), and series should be fat with lots of mids and output.
