kevbass
I know that alot of us have probbably got the flea dvd where hes being intrviewed by River Phoenix, so I was scouring youtube for some flea bass solo stuff, supprisingly there isnt that much say compared to claypool or wooten, anyways, I found a couple of good slap solo's if slap is your thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPGlB8PZ448 I think this one is off a Chad Smith tutorial dvd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FrI5lNvCnQ For me I have to say I enjoy seeing flea slap more than any other player, for instance wooten is a bit too technical for me, where as fleas style is fun and manic and that bit more funky and raw than claypool, but this is just my opinion. Count Bassy
Call me old fashioned if you will, but to me he sounds so much better on the few occassions when he's not slapping. Clive
Jam
chippewabill (5 days ago) Flea, you keep on suprising me man, Les Claypool has nothing on you man!! Iwanttobestevenfry (5 days ago) how the fcuk does he a) manage to do it in the first place and keep it sounding so tight for so long! best bass player around, no question I love youtube. Some people have no idea about bass. He's the best bass player around? Better than Claypool? Debatable..
Buzz
Flea is a very good player, to a level that most of us here could only dream of achieving. Debating who's better between brilliant muso's is...well......a bit pointless unless you sat them all down together in a room and got them to play, unless you happen to be talking about which style you prefer. I personally would chose Claypool over Flea in that context though, I just prefer Claypool's style. Both phenomenal slap players.
