Metalmoore
Well i cut myself yesterday cooking, sliced the tip of my index finger off (not as much as this may imply but it was sore ), plenty of blood but it only seems to be the top layer of the skin and already looks as if its healing. BUT the pressure of holding a string down is killing me, so gotta put the bass down until its healed. Plasters dont help either Anyone got any similar stories so i cen read them while it heals up? Les
Well, I was once slicing some carrots up and the Grim Reaper suddenly appeared and started helping me with his scythe. I thought to myself "blimey, I'm dicing with death here"

WWRRSS
just clean it up hold your finger so the cut is closed and cover it in superglue and it'll be fine for playing with, just try not to superglue your blood.
Metalmoore
Its not the actual cut im having problems with, its the pressure of the string pushing back making the finger hurt

bootleg
You have 3 other fingers you could use. A useful exercise to build up more strength in them as the index finger heals
velvetkevorkian
The week before I went for my first school orchestra course (about 10 days of playing 8 hours a day) I sliced the tip of the middle finger on my right hand. Just had to use the other ones more to compensate!

Also gigged 2 years ago with stitches after I knifed my own left hand, which was 1 second after this conversation Mrs F61 "don't be stupid you'll cut yourself" Me "I'm being exremely careful"
Doddy
You've only cut one finger haven't you? Use the other three that you haven't cut... Problem solved.

Marvin
I tried to saw the end of my finger off the other week, that was quite painful. Wasn't helped that, because I work outside, my hands dry out a lot which makes the skin split open, on every finger. I now moisturise regularly <said in camp voice > . anthomp
anthomp the butcher here just had a month off gigs for this reason happens regularly as you would imagine and yes it was the pressure holding down strings that worried me this time but its okay now : )
beardybass
When I played double in a jazz quartet I had a finger tip burst in the middle of a song, hurt like buggery but I powered through and super glued it between sets. Once the glue dried and I'd wiped the blood and skin off my finger board, I was good to go.
