BarnacleBob
What is the difference - I took it the A stood for active - but I thought all 100% graphite Steinbergers were active it was the wooden bodied XP and XM that were passive? Cheers BB Edited March 21, 2010 by BarnacleBob

Cheers BB[/quote] The tone controls on the XL2 are passive. Volume, volume, tone. The battery is for the pickups. The XL2A has the active circuitry. BarnacleBob
Still loving this.............................. Having poked about Steinberger world web site and others - the XL2A looked the same but controls would be Vol, Bal(?) and centre notched Bass boost and bass cut? I believe the 2 i had were XL2As but does anyone know if an active circuit is available to convert an XL2 to an XL2A? Cheers BB
