Cheap fretless 6-strings

Certain German on-line sellers always seem to have fretless six-strings in their model lineup. Is there a big market for cheap six string fretless basses? I'd have thought it was a rather limited market.

I'll be looking for a six string fretless at some point, not sure when tho - I have other acquisitions afoot!

Would you consider buying a cheap no-brand bass from ebay, or would you be looking for something more up-market?

possibly because they are easier to make than having to mark out where the frets go, cut the slots, fit the frets, file down the edges etc?
