Mokl
Well, I was very sad to see my Black Wal 4 string go, but practicality was dictating that I needed a five string, so I had to part with it. By some great stroke of fortune, I have managed to replace it with something strikingly similar, but with the extra string I was looking for The conundrum with which I am now faced is whether or not I should attempt to have it returned to its former, schedua-faced glory, or keep it as it is (which wouldn't exactly break my heart). This was refinished in black poly in the mid nineties, you see. I would have to sort a logo from somewhere, seeing as getting one from Wal isn't really a possibilty at at the moment. Does anybody know of a place that could make me up a high quality water-slide transfer? I emailed (and then phoned) Sims custom. After waiting and receiving no response I can only assume that they're not especially interested in helping me out, so I'd rather use someone else. This is a smashing bass, and I'm chuffed to bits. Now I'm off to try and get to grips with that extra string (3rd time lucky?!). Matt Edited November 8, 2007 by Mokl
BigRedX
Very nice... Difficult to tell from the pics, but from what I can see the black looks pretty good (but then I'm a fan a semi-matt black instruments). Unless it's starting to look worn or it's particularly nasty in real-life I'd leave it be until it does need refinishing. If you do decide to strip it off there's been recommendations before for someone how can do you a good 'fake' decal. Either do a search, or hopefully someone else here will remember better than I can who it is.
Mokl
Cheers. The finish has been done to a very high standard, it's just tantalizing to think what may lie beneath! There's a bit of buckle rash on the back, but otherwise the finish is in great shape.

Buzz
I'm not normally a fan of how Wal's look, the wood choices don't do it for me on some instruments, but that black finish makes it look utterly fantastic.

Am still deliberating whether to take the plunge on the refin or not... I always fancied a natural Wal, but the general consensus seems to be that the black is a real hit!
