BarnacleBob
Had this in the pinned topic above but floating it here too as I need advice quick My Levinson Blade B3 Active Jazz clone hums when it comes within a foot or so of whichever amp its plugged into, the closer the hummier!!! Otherwise it is fine and quiet - it is quite complicated inside with trim pots etc and a huge metal block which I haven't seen on any other bass. I live with it cos the bass was cheap and if u dont go near the amp while actually playing it isnt a problem Any Ideas BB
BOD2
If it's only a problem within a foot of the amp then it sounds like it is just the pickups being affected by the electromagnetic fields generated by the amps transformers and other bits. If the bass has single coil pikcups then this is to be expected. Not much you can do about it really. A noise gate could be used and setup to cut off the noise in between songs if that's where the problem lies.
BarnacleBob
Cheers Mate, that sounds good enough for me! wanting to stick it in the for sale forum and didnt want anyone getting any nasty surprises - although I am throwing in an amp as well so it will be a pick up only (if you will pardon the pun ). Cheers from a fellow Scot BB
