mike257
The Sterling has a smaller body, and very different electrics from the Stingray. Somebody better informed will be along shortly to clarify how different, give it a minute or two!

Gotta love this forum ^_^[/quote] yeah it is one of the few forums where you get given fact and opinion rather than opinion passed off as fact. Also people actually try to have reasonable discussions rather than just telling people they are wrong
Spike Vincent
Sterling has a smaller body than the Stingray,1" narrower and 1" shorter, the Stingray has 21 frets as opposed to the Sterlings 22,and the neck on the Sterling is 1/8" narrower at the nut. warwickhunt
Neck is slimmer Body is smaller Switch for series/parallel on Sterling Dummy coil in the Sterling pup IRC they also have different preamps ... so that's virtually everything! I know this because a bass playing pygmy elephant called Rodney told me so and in my opinion he's being factual, so there! End of discission. Oh yea, and what Warwickhunt said. Delberthot
Don't Stingrays use Alnico poles and Sterlings use Ceramic? and the switching thing as well anyone with a stingray 5 string more than a few years old actually has a Sterling as it has ceramic poles and the same electronics. cameltoe
I thought the Sterlings were made in the Far East whereas the Stingrays were USA built? Or is this so obvious it's been taken as a given?
XB26354
The MusicMan Sterling is made in the USA. The Sterling branded basses are made in the far east.
