Annoying Twit Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 The triangular headstock inlay looks familiar, but I can't place it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO0aURDiuPo Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) Looks like a vintage Kay bass to me.At about 2.37 you can clearly see the K logo,do'nt know which model though. Edited March 24, 2010 by hillbilly deluxe Quote
Annoying Twit Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 I knew I'd seen that triangle before, but for the life of me couldn't remember where. The Kay reissues (which in hindsight, I read about a year or so ago I think) have the triangle too. But since the clip is from 1974, that's Paul McCartney playing an original Kay bass then. :-o Many thanks. Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Jazz Special Bass. The Jazz Special is sometimes called the Paul McCartney model because he was pictured playing one. It’s basically the 162 morphed into a double-cutaway with an abstractshaped pickguard. It has the same Thin Twin pickups. It appears that they are to be re-issued,made both in the far east and USA. Annoying Twit Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) With those extra search terms, I found this page: http://www.beatlelinks.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1003527 Here's Paul using the bass in the video for "Ebony and Ivory". Edit: I thought I'd see if I could find a better picture. But, I just learnt not to put "ebony and ivory video" into google image search with safesearch turned off!
