Wiseoldfrog
I think you will be happy. The finish on mine (exact same model) is excellent for the price. I took it out to rehearsals last week and it is one funky bass. I play in a soul / funk / R&B band and I used the MM p/u for the funky numbers and then the Jazz p/u where I needed a more rounded sound. The weight is good and it feels substantial. Only thing that I might change is that it comes with light gauge strings which I've not used for a while but I suppose it does give me an alternative to my heavier gauge strings on my Jazz. IMHO, you need to spend a little while with the 2eq to find what you are looking for but after that, it's a real plug and play bass. Enjoy when you get it!
Thanks Floyd I was hoping to get more of a funky sound out of the bass more than anything else (although, ideally, a nice jazz sound and a Musicman style growl would be nice too). Bass still hasn't arrived Apparently there was a cock-up with the delivery and it wasn't shipped when it was supposed to go out. I've now been told I can expect it tomorrow (fingers crossed as I've taken the Thursday off work to have a play about with it). Really hope the bass is all I want it to be after all this messing about B
ead
I see the Aspiration stockist/dealer list is now on the OW site. Matt P
thought i'd post here, mainly as a note to those in the north east, core music in hexham has 4 tanglewaters in stock, went in to play the blackburst deluxe 5 (£700) and had a quick go on the natural elite 4 (£750), they also had an artist in red (£600)and a contemporary j (£580) as well, the basses were all wonderful but i'm not a great fan of the blackburst so i'm going to wait for the next batch (anyone know what other colours are being offered for the deluxe? and when the elite will be appearing in 5?) the guys in the shop were really friendly annd were offering great prices (they said they were flexible about discounts etc) i must say that i have no link to the shop, today was my first visit and i only found out about them by looking on the overwater website, but they actually have the basses on display and they are all top notch. given the funds and the space i would have taken at least one of them home with me. as it is i'm going to wait for an elite 5 or to see what the colours are for the deluxe, if not i may overlook my natural avoidance of black basses and go back for the deluxe 5 as it was an absolute corker. picture included (with permission of the shop) sorry it's a phone pic. They had 5 in stock this time last week. Clearly the quality issues I took exception to aren't as obvious as I thought then. I must be a pickier bugger than I thought. Wiseoldfrog
Well I'll no longer by getting my Overwater Aspiration Artist bass. I paid for it in full last Wednesday and, although I'd been told it had been shipped, it's still sitting in the shop. Couldn't be bothered with all the hassle and delay this was causing so asked for a refund. I'm disappointed but I now have nearly £600 to spend on a bass again. This bad order has put me off Overwaters (too much heartache with this failed order) so am thinking of looking at second hand basses from here instead. Take care guys. Machines
Hmm, i'm not sure how a shop giving you bad service can possibly reflect on the product itself ? Just get it somewhere else ?

Also, with hindsight and much perusing of this site, I've seen secondhand basses from reputable posters going for good prices and for £600 I think I could get a secondhand bass I'd be happy with and an amp. Really good site and I've learned a lot just from reading the various threads. Thanks guys B

It's filled a little gap in my arsenal (as it were), seeing as it's my only passive bass. It's definitely going to be making an appearance on some recordings I'm starting work on soon. I'll get some porn shots up soon when I get a chance.
fragglefart
Had a look at a bunch of these today and was blown away. Didn't get to play any, sadly, but the Aspiration Deluxe especially really looked the business. Want to go back and try some but just not got the cashitos right now. skej21
Money burning hole in my pocket... Where can I find an Elite 5?!
Chris2112
They have a couple of these in the Windows store in the Metro Centre. The jazz shapes looks alright but they do look a tad cheap. One of them also appeared to have incredibly high action, but the shop staff were dicking about on an electric piano and complaining about customers that call electric pianos 'keyboards', so I just elft them to it. I remember back when it was Williams, then Dolphin(?) and now it's a JG Windows? Awful shop as I recall, and not much bass stuff either. I remember asking for flats in there once and got a reponse of "Erm... Flatwound strings? (Me - Taperwound strings[?]) Erm, sorry mate... we only have EB Super Slinky. Will they do?" I will not be venturing in there, even if they have an Elite 5 lol.
Chris2112
Yes, I think with it being Windows now it's really worse than ever as Windows is a dire affair. The Overwaters were just hanging up on the wall with the rest of the tat they had there and the wife was looking less than impressed as I considered a 'research run' for the purposes of the forum! Wiseoldfrog
I'd just like to say that Chris May (head honcho at Overwater) PM'd be to find out what the issue was with my delivery problem to ensure such a thing doesn't happen again. The fact that he personally got involved in this just shows what great support I would imagine people can expect from Overwater. B
