Doddy
As much as I love my 'fancy' basses,my Jazz is still my 'go to' bass. It's done so many gigs and it's getting a little battered but it's all been done on gigs that I've done. It's like wearing a comfy jumper. Jerry_B
Anyone actually like the Jazz for it's looks alone? I know I do. That asymetrical body shape, the metal plate blended with the pickguard. Very nice! I just wish that they naturally had a bit more grunt - but that can be remedied with dirtier pickups

4000
Er.....no. Ricks all the way for me, as I've finally realised after nearly 30 years.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Looks like I'm on my own - I prefer playing my mustang to my jazz or precisions - & I have some nice precisions.
Beedster
Yeah i do Pete..I am having a few problems with hearing mine well thoght of late..think it either the Nordstrands (that are light on the bottom end) or the 212 Aguilar...i want a Audere in it..think this will solve the problem..need punch and power that i can control.. is the jazz that good Pete? Whgere is the porn by the way??
Great thing about the Audere pre is that it makes the Jazz sound like a Precision
alanbass1
Haven't found a jazz bass that I could gel with, always get lost in the mix - but I love my Warwick Thumb which has jazz qualities but also punches through a mix
JTUK
I been on gigs where the singer had told me to bring a Fender...especially if promo was involved. Some basses will just not do... A jazz is timeless but I agree that the pre amps have enabled a lot to compete these days. Both my Jazz's have pre's but sound pretty good passive IMV... but then that is why I have kept them
Pete Academy
Maybe I fell lucky. This Jazz just doesn't need any enhancement. Saying that, I may consider breast implants for it at some stage...
davidmpires
I've only owned a pimped up jazz bass does that count?

Jerry_B
I really like the looks of a Jazz, and the Precision too. They just don't cut it for me, sound-wise. This is why I have a Peavey T-40, which sounds marvelous and looks great in a sort of American industrial design kinda way. The fretless Fender Jazz I have is all black and just looks very very slinky indeed. At the end of the day I guess you like what suits your purposes. I won't buy another Jazz but I really like how they look!
