merello
After years, I eventually got a black maple Jazz. Really weird design feature - I kept trying to fix the tone knob to make it flush with the body like the 2 volume pots. It looked wrong but I'd never noticed it before. A technician and I even thought of sawing a few mm off the pot shaft. Then I realised it was designed that way. Are Sadowsky and others the same? Looks wrong to me and feels wrong to me. AndyTravis
Same sized pot shaft - different sized knobs. I didn't spot it until recently and i own 2 Jazz basses, and have had several others in the past. I don't think about it too much though... The Bass Doc
Standard Fender way is to add an extra shake-proof washer to the (underside) tone pot so that it appears to shorten the threaded part of the pot and allows the knob to sit lower.
