theosd
I will soon be in the market for a bass cabinet and was wondering what companies you guys have used that are reasonably priced and will ship heavy boxy gear such as cabs? I know there's already a sticky topic on couriers but I was talking more specifically about cabs rather than basses. Anyone had recent success shipping or receiving really heavy sh*t? thanks in advance! Theo. Edited March 30, 2010 by theosd

umcoo
I shipped an Ampeg 4x10 a few years back. The guy who won it just wanted me to put cardboard over the cloth grille and put his address on it. Being the young whippersnapper I was, I agreed. I taped the cardboard securely on the cab and a nice delivery man picked it up exactly on time (DHL I seem to recall). The cab was on castors too which helped. Get a message from the guy saying DHL have just delivered a large square piece on cardboard to him. Bugger. Quick phonecall to his local depot and it was sat there with nowhere to go. He picked it up later that day, safe and sound.

urbanx
I had a Marshall MBC410 delivered to work by DHL from Soundslive. 40Kg, massive box. Got delivered next day, almost like a letter, just slightly larger, and a slightly more bemused delivery man. I think the amount on the postage (on the box) was £13 or thereabouts.
