Dr.Dave
Not sure which forum to post on so here I am. I called in Electro Music in Doncaster while my scooter was being serviced and played a lovely black 4 string fretless stingray. Good condition Ernie model - 2 band eq. Sounded fab - 'sings' well unplugged. It's £875 on the ticket , times are tough (nebbing on conversations) so I suspect there's plenty of give on that price. No connection to me whatsoever - just thought I'd let you know. Sort of thing folk often seem to be looking for. If I wasn't sorted with the fretless jap Jazz I'd have strapped it to my top box and come home with it!
Chris2112
Having got into the whole fretless Musicman thing myself, I can honestly say that its now my favourite configuration for a fretless bass!
alanbass1
I like fretless Stingray's - must be the Pino thing. You don't see too many being played
thisnameistaken
I had one for a bit last year but moved it on, dead spots on the neck in the typical Stingray places let it down. Probably wouldn't have been such a big deal but I was using it with lots of effects and it caused too many tracking problems. It did sound good on its own though. Out of interest where are the typical dead spots, I have a few rays and never really noticed (which is not unusual for me), but I'll nip home and scrutinise them this evening! artisan
I've also never noticed any dead spots on any of the 'rays i've owned or played.

Often they're not really noticable until you plug in an effect that relies on sustain to do its job (octavers, harmonisers, envelope following effects too to some extent) and then suddenly they're the most annoying things in the universe. If you need (near) perfection then it has to be graphite! Anyway, back to the topic, I tried that Ray in Electro - not the best one I tried IMHO but with a bit of tweaking and if it could be brought dopwn to £700-750, then......
