Kiwi
Seem to be a few more owners of these basses showing up since Christmas so I figured we might as well have a Celinder thread and flush some of them out from hiding. Here are my two: 1994 J Update - apparently the second that Chris ever made. I wouldn't mind getting some warmer pickups for it but its not a priority for now. A 2002 P Classic, with a light alder body and a jazz neck. Chris made this for himself as an experiment but later sold it. And one that I sold a while back: The Skarbye bass. bubinga5
Just fabulous looking basses..if i could try any bass it would be a Celinder 4 or 5 or the 6 thats on here....from my experience i never trust image because a bass in your mind can be very different in reality...i get the feeling that a Celinder would blow me away though.. the one i thought was special me was a Rudy Pensa bass... do you have any sound clips CK.. Kiwi
Ummmmm, there's an audio track of me playing the Skarbye bass here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKNbijc-UHg And a couple of shots of us in the studio recording it: But nothing of the other two yet. My recording set up has been in disarray since emigrating and with all the other things, I'm only just getting around to finalising the set up this weekend. birdy
That black Celinder was one of my all time fave basses!! I think there is a website somewhere with clips of the bass. I will have a look later..... Steve

SpinalTap
Hope you are still enjoying that amazing P Vintage. I miss it sometimes, but I have to be honest that I always choose for a Jazz bass. I've owned a lot of Celinders (especially if you consider there are only a couple of hunderd Celinders made): - J Update 4 - J Vintage 5 fretless - J Vintage 4 fretless - P Classic - P Vintage But my J Classic 4 I received in 2007 is really special. I use for 90% on stage. Kiwi
Yeah Nik, mustn't grumble. I have a decent job here and a good lifestyle although my salary is half what I was on the UK. So won't be buying any expensive pieces of kit in the forseeable. Good job I set myself up before I left the UK.

I think it's the most easily playable bass I've owned (and the list currently includes Alembics, ACs, Status - previously, Overwater, Fodera, Sei etc.) Should you ever require a new home for that gorgeous gold 4, then drop me a line ...seriously, that stack J is just stunning! Molan - what a pair - staggering. Next time I'm down, I must try to ensure it's via Henley! Edited April 3, 2010 by lozbass
SpinalTap
It's a wonderfull precision bass you got, especially with the 'pre CBS A' profile neck. Plays very nice. The Shoreline Gold J Classic is the only bass I never considered selling. I usually have two basses, and put the new bass for sale after a while because it doesn't get played. I think you are the fifth person to ask (!), but will let you know if I ever consider selling it.
That J Vinatage 5 fretless was one of the best basses I ever played and good looking to. I really hated it I had to sell it because of the 5 strings. I heard it was stolen in The Netherlands two years ago....
Flanker
That's interesting, I wonder where it ended up? At least I know where two of them are. Funny enough I don't miss the black Jazz but Steve's Precision is the best Precision I've owned bar none.
SpinalTap
You should really try the P Vintage that Lozbass owns now. That bass is IMHO a few leagues above the two P Classics that you owned, including the red one. And I really think these P Classics are fantastic. Thanks for the kind words on the Celinder P Vintage - it's the most playable neck I've ever experienced - so slim, it just melts away. Indeed, the bass is so light, it's kind of easy to forget about it and just think about what you want to play - it's one of those instruments that doesn't get in the way of what you want to do. No niggles, no giltches, nothing weird - just perfectly responsive - a joy!
