pantherairsoft
Hi Guys and Gals, Not sure we have one of these, although we probably do as its an obvious thing to do. If there is a similar thread somewhere then would a mod please close this to avoid duplication. If not… here's the rules… The idea is to get a little coverage for what you do amongst out great community. I've had the pleasure of seeing a few BassChatters play live and have discovered some cool bands by doing so. There must be millions more out there and I for one want to hear them!!! Some forum members do stuff that is fairly well known, but that doesn't mean they should not make an entry on the thread. 1. Introduce the band/project/group etc. your currently playing with/working on. What they're called, style of music, brief summary. Include influences f that helps. 2. Link to a website/myspace/facebook… if possible, one that has some audio so we can hear what you do! 3. Don't use this to advertise gigs as there is a forum for this already!!! In an attempt to keep it all clean and easy to follow, just post the details of your band once (Don't update your website next week and then post again). Obviously feel free to comment on peoples bands etc. A little good press on the thread will only make more members interested! —————————— I'll go first…. I'm fairly new to the band given a recent 'restructure'. The band is called Aphemia, consists of 5 members (Vocal/Guitar, Guitar, Drums, Synth, Bass) and we all reside around the Derby/Nottingham area, rehearsing in Derby. I would describe the music as Industrial/Synth driven Hard Rock. I guess it pays reference to lots of artists, but the thing that enticed me to join them was the fact that I didn't find it sounded too much like any one particular act. For anyone that thinks it might be their cup of tea, here's the Myspace - Aphemia Hope you all like it! Right, who's next…? Eight
Just wanted to say, great idea. Really interested to see what people post - and if you're putting up MySpace links etc. then I'll definitely be checking them out. Unfortunately, I'm not in a band. So that's as far as I go here. JimBobTTD
I am in a band called Metal Liquor. We play - yes, you guessed correctly - Metallica tracks. But we also do all sorts of 80s thrash covers. No, it isn't original. Yes, it is a lot of fun. We are based in Örebro. Our somewhat rudimentary MySpace page is here: Metal Liquor
Lord Sausage
I'll go next! The band is called Band of Gold. We are a five piece (Drums,Bass, Guitar, Keys, Vocals). We all live in the Wigan area. I would describe us as jazz punk pop rock and more as we try to reference as many styles as possible. however we only have five tracks on myspace and they are the jazz punk pop rock ones. We like to pastiche artists and style....and swear! All opinions welcome as the bands purpose is to be as ridiculous as possible, We are like Marmite! If any one is interested its myspace/bandofgold08 Edited April 2, 2010 by Lord Sausage

cLepto-bass
I am currently working with an act by the name of Buswell. The band started off as a folk esque band but in recent months have crossed over to a slightly more post rock feel yet still with the fundenmental folky sound (think Sigur Ros meets Bon Ivor) We are currently making plans for a series of gigs involving a 25 - 30 piece orchestra! Its going to be alot of work for all those involved but highly rewarding once we manage to pull it off. All relevant info can be found here - Buswell The songs are demos and current works in progress but all feedback would be appreciated. Bassassin
OK, I'll join in. My band's Maya29 - we're a 4-piece female-fronted original progressive rock/metal (although not quite prog metal) band based in Edinburgh. The band started as a songwriting/recording project with just me & the vocalist and we've been around in one form or another for about 10 years now. The music's evolved a lot over that time and our current project is a 45-minute song cycle called The Fifth Sun - you can hear a 9-minute compilation of excerpts on our Myspace page. It's hard to pin influences down - we've never wanted to "sound like" any particular other band so I can only really suggest people listen to what we do & decide for themselves! We're all pretty ancient for an "originals" band (30s / 40s) which means we're not overly preoccupied with increasingly implausible notions of "making it" or "getting a deal" - we've all been through that phase a long time ago, and we do what we do now for the love of creating music & performing it. We've recently taken a fairly long break from gigging to try & kick The Fifth Sun into shape live, but have bitten the bullet and have a couple of local gigs booked next week, where we'll be playing the entire piece (warts and all) for the first time. Come & point & laugh at Bannermans, April 5th, and Henry's Cellar Bar, April 9th. Both gigs are in Edinburgh. Jon.
MythSte
Im Stephen and I'm [s]an alcocohlic[/s] the bass player for Blackpool based band, The Locals. We're all 19 now, and both guitarists have been writing together since they where 12. Ive been part of the magic for a year now and the musics definately turning into something i'm really enjoying writing and playing. I can definately get my teeth into it! There's a link in my sig should you want to listen. Its Britpop Rock and Roll really, A definate Arctic Monkeys flavour about some of our older tracks, the new ones are definately developing into something that feels a bit more like us! tombboy
My band are called The LOOP - three piece set-up bass, drums and guitar/vocal. We only play originals and can best be described as 'Hard Mod'. Think The Jam, but with more overdrive!! Martin (guitarist/singer/writer) just seems to have a knack of pulling out (IMO) great melodies and lyrics about life experiences and everyday situations. The songs are a joy to play! A couple of albums (self recorded and produced) available on I-tunes and busy writing/demo-ing the third as I type. Live wise, we have just got our foot in the door with the 'Scooter' scene, which is a notoriously hard thing to achieve so we are looking to capitalise on that as much as we can. Memorable gigs so far have been supporting Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler on the 2008 From The Jam tour and some ripping gigs in the capital. Anyway, myspace link here. Enjoy!!

BassJase
Good band Pantherairsoft, loving the Apartment 26/Filter kinda vibe. How much is your E.P? And UrbanX, I was in a band called "Plan B" 17 years ago! Right, anyhows, I'm currently playing bass for Backyard Bully, a London based Rock/HipHop crossover band, but not sh*tty raprock like Dog Eat Dog or 311 or whatever, more like Run DMC meets Boo Yaa Tribe meets Helmet. We've done a handful of gigs in the last year, every one to a great reception, and we got some good shizzle happening in the coming months. Our vocalist Sus recently collaborated with the Mayhem-Dance group Terratron and the track got to #3 in the European dance charts so that was good exposure, and in the past he's supported Eminem and D-12 amongst others. If you're interested its www.myspace.com/backyardbully1 or www.backyardbully.com and here's the Terratron video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el0PcqQNnjA Feedback appreciated cheers.... neepheid
I'm in a band called Panda Eyes, we're a 4 piece (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) hailing from Aberdeen. I find it really hard to pigeonhole us into a genre, it's female fronted indie rock with folky and americana sprinkles. Or people want to think it is, I just hope people think it's good. CyberBass
I'me in an Electro/Industrial/Rock/Pop band called jagged from Bristol. www.myspace.com/jaggedbanduk We've been going a couple of years and have played mainly up North or London, it's a bit rare for us to play our own fair city as there isn't a huge Alternative scene in Bristol. Our first album 'Autumn Fall' was released via rebco records in 2009, and sales to date have largely been from Italy, Germany, America and Japan. We are currently working on our second album and we are about 5 tracks in, release will be towards the end of the year. Hope you enjoy :-)

Our lineup consists of my brother-in-law Mark on drums, my good pal Steven on guitar/vox and yours truely on bass. This is my first band that started 1 year ago (im 31) and cant believe how well ive landed on my feet. website The Licks Im currently starting up a 2nd project which consists of vox, guitar, keyboard, bass and drums which so far appears to be more of a lighter britpop kinda band including, small faces, beatles and shed seven....we aint really got things together yet but just learning our own bits first before rehearsing as a band..... OutToPlayJazz
I'm sure I put these pics up before, but by way of introduction, this motley crew forms the basis of the OutToPlayJazz band, the Fono Productions Jazz band, the core of many musical theatre shows, professional pantomimes and the rhythm section for the Jeff Hooper band on the BBC/Warner Strictly Come Dancing Tour & the Nick Ross Orchestra. Mr.B here has one of those odd brains in that he's a human photocopier. Once he's played a piece of music with the sheet music once or twice it's copied into his brain in any key. An amazing pianist, MD & all round entertainer. Mr.Dabbs is possibly the most musical drummer I've ever encountered. Formerly from the chart band, Long View, he's also a very good orchestral percussionist. Then there's me - I double up as electric bass, double bass & cello for a lot of jobs with these guys.
