BottomE
We are the GoodFoot Band from the deep south. We play a bit of funk and soul - originals and sometimes covers. We've been together for nearly 4 years with same members! Some kinda record for me. Here we are at the Soul Cellar in Southampton. SLAP WARNING for those that don't like it! clarkpegasus4001
Great thread, there's some fine bands on here! I'm Tony and my band is called In For the Kill. We are a Budgie tribute band. (classic rock) I reckon best gigs so far were Intake leisure, Mansfield (gig for Budgie fans and included ex-Budgie guitarist Simon Lees), Rock and Bike Festival (2009) and Rock City Nottingham. gafbass02
Hi all. This is something a bit weird, it my new band in which I 'play', um, guitar!?! And 'sing' !! We do covers of stuff from the prodigy to Britney and fellow basschatter Davemuadib is the bassist/guitarist when it's too tricky for me :0) It's my first time doing anything other than bass and we could really use some more likes!! I guess we are influenced by Thrice, Brand New, Circa Survive, Alexisonfire, He Is Legend and loads of others. Kinda hard to narrow it down, ha ha. Hope someone enjoys it anyway. Cheers! Noah Deere
Hi, The band I am in is called Broadarrow Jack, it's a steampunk band and for some reason the majority of our songs have a nautical theme. We have been together since January, and played five gigs so far. The songs range in style quite a lot, and there is an ever growing folk influence. There are six of us in the band, vocals, guitar, bass, violin, viola and bodhran. We only have one recording so far, and it can be heard on our facebook page. Facebook page is here http://www.facebook.com/BroadarrowJack We are midlands based, some east midlands, some west midlands.

tomhunt
I'm currently working with my first band called The Hedge Pigs. We are a Ska, Soul, Mod, Motown, Reggae tribute act. 5 piece band, two singers, guitar, bass, drums. Currently writing our own Ska based tracks. Worked on one track which I would say is more along the lines of Rock, but, I think its a great track and we get a lot of good feedback about it. We are based in Leicestershire, a small town called Ashby De La Zouch. All the bands from round here do the same old thing, so we put this band together to get something different going, and at the minute, we are doing rather well. Although, I love the style we do (basically a Scooter lad myself), I'm more into playing the likes of Rush on bass, but Iv enjoyed doing what we are doing, and have found some of the songs arnt as easy as I thought. These videos are from our 2nd gig, excuse the timing and the other noticeable bad things - all sorted now.. lol And yes, the singers are more of a "X Factor" thing. Male singer is a tribute act to Michael Buble so.. Link - www.facebook.com/thehedgepigs Video of a Who cover - http://youtu.be/jsQDKTXgoV4 Video of our own song - http://youtu.be/exc3DD4T-Yk Going to be working with a guitarist called Vinny Burns (youtube, google him) who worked with Ultravox, Dare, Ten, Bob Catley and so on. He lives in my town and we have always said we would do something and never have, but its all being sorted now, so in the new year, I will be in his studio working on some of his new solo stuff. Can't wait! Cheers, Tom
la bam
Im part of a band called La Bam. We are a 4 piece (Vocals, drums, bass and guitar (sometimes keyboard)) function band, playing weddings, functions, corporates and the odd pub gig. Used to be in a band playing all Indie (before it became massive again) but split up just as every other pub was crying out for Indie bands. Its good to play party music people can dance to and sing a long to, as a change from playing cool music. We cover Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Manchester, Merseyside etc My influences are mainly early rock and 80s and 90s indie, so its ironic to now be playing cheesy Wedding music!! Bass heroes John Paul Jones, Geezer Butler and Mani and James Jameson. Our site needs a real update, we now have much better stage set up, backdrops etc - the video on the site was from our first ever rusty gig. Please visit our site, and our facebook page and we'll reciprocate any 'likes' http://www.labam.co.uk http://www.facebook....250836334932179 Thanks again, Andy Edited December 29, 2011 by la bam

Grassie
Right, At the mo, I and my band are rehearsing rock covers by bands we love, doing songs that you may remember but don't usually see other bands playing (Terrorvision, Manics, Foos, Feeder etc.) Rather than playing the obvious stuff, we're going for album tracks and some fun covers. We seem to have settled on the name "Pump Action Sunshine" which, if I had to describe our setlist in three words, that would be it. We have myself on the bass guitar, Mr. Jason Blowman on guitar and Mr. Graham Rose on the drums. Hopefully we'll be ready to go out by early spring and start putting a smile on peoples faces! Alternatively you can also check out my electronica project "Bonneville" at www.soundcloud.com/bonneville. Not "bass-centric" in the slightest, nor is it particularly difficult to listen to, but it's me getting my Vince Clark head on and it's something that I love doing. Great thread by the way! Dr.Dave
How come I never saw this thread before............. anyway I'm in 2 bands featuring the same 3 people - Mart on Drums , Rod on guitar and me on bass. We all sing lead vocals depending on who has the best voice to suit the song or , more simply , who can be arsed. One's a ZZ Top trib band , which is nice because we get to go all over and play bigger gigs than normal but I've never been truly happy about pretending to be somebody else - probably because , unlike most people I know , I've never wanted to be anyone else or had 'heros' etc. We're winding it down. Dr Blue is our pub band - it sort of morphed from a blues festival band into pub rock. Like my sig says - noisy guitars and swearing since 1999. We play most weekends but the Fri/Sat/Sun jobs are few these days. I'm the youngest at 50 and I just don't need the hassle. No idea how long we'll keep going but I'm sure we're nearer the end than the start.
Benplaysbass
Nothing special from me, I play with a bunch of geriatrics who only want to rock n roll. But gets me out of the house. And another livelier band is forming nicely now so things should get nicely busy. Here's out reverbnation page. http://www.reverbnation.com/livewireinfrance
paul torch
I've got several things going on. The two main ones are Sub Machine http://soundcloud.co...chine/spotlight and The Beards. Sub Machine have been going for a couple of years now, finding our sound and writing style, ready to start gigging soon (I hope). We're a power trio of 40 somethings influenced by all things rock and the hedonistic years of our 20s and 30s. Take a listen and decide for yourselves. The Beards were formed over twenty years ago with a sixteen year hiatus were I concentrated on DJing and programming. How would you describe us? We started as a three piece and have recently recruited a multi-talented young lad on keys and 2nd guitar, this also benefits us by reducing the average age of the band considerably and having someone to use on promotional material. Psychedelic/prog pop might go someway to describing our sound. Not gigged yet but heading in that direction. My third occasional project is a drums/bass/electronic improv thing with The Beards drummer Gary (Nilp Varagon) and myself (Vince Continental), we call ourselves Trope. A completely experimental format that does allow us to feed into The Beards as well as existing in its own right.
