fryer
Hi, I've just bought a Source Audio Pro multiwave bass distorsion pedal, but this applies to any pedal I guess. It says to connect the bass into the pedal, then the output into the amp. But my amp, a shuttle 6, has an effects loop, in and out. Is it best to use this ? And what's the difference ? And when connected ( using the amp in and out ) the volume is much, much, louder when using the effect than when switching it off using the foot switch. I've tried twiddling the knobs, but can't get the volumes to match. Any suggestions please ( within reason )
AttitudeCastle
if its a pedal i would suggest not using the FX loop, for technical reasons http://www.ovnilab.com/articles/fxloop.shtml its all very well explained there, you may find answers to other questions in the FAQ there too hope that helps! skankdelvar
The 'old school' rule was tonal effects (distortion, EQ, wah, etc) between gtr and amp. Time-based effects (chorus, delay, reverb) in the effects loop. YMMV, of course.
Al Heeley
But I thought stomp boxes were all designed with impedance to be best suited going between instrument and pre-amp? Rack effects & didtal processors, etc. can be configured to sit in the fx loop.
