Instrument Cases - Your Options

Yeah it probably better than my first impressions, even though my first impressions were pretty good. I did go with the black one and there's white lines on the edges that match my SVT-CL rig :)

Warwick do a good aluminium flight case, I wouldn't go near that Stagg case to be honest because I've heard some very bad things about Stagg cases.

You cannot go wrong with the Warwick case mate, trust me.

MB1. :)
I have a stagg guitar case(i have a hohner headless jack bass) and i also own a rivet gun, and i know how to use one too!(buy one of these cases and youll need the tools and the skills). The catches and hinges are rather cheap to say the least on these cases, however, lightweight and still better than a gig bag in my opinion.Usable but not heavy duty.
Ben if the white stripes ever need a bassist! ;)

Can anyone recommend a good manufacturer of custom made cases, or a good case repairer? I recently bought a Rickenbacker doubleneck, but the case was damaged in transit. Fortunately the guitar itself was fine. Insurance should be paying up, but I still need to find someone to actually do it. The neck angles are different, so to support them properly any new case would need to be custom made.

Hi Jon,

Sorry for the late reply. Here are the chaps I mentioned.

Very nice chaps and the prices seem competitive. They can make whatever you want to measure, in a variety of densities.

Cheers

I just collected this today, I have to say I'm really pleased with it.

It came form here, anyone interested in having a case built should give them a try, they are really good.
That looks great :) I take it you had to go down to where they're based for them to get the shape of the foam cutout right?
They're based in Tamworth which is only about 8 miles up the road, so I could just drop it into them, but they can do it from a paper template that you can send in yourself, just draw around a sheet of wallpaper or something.

Would it fit in a coffin case? it wouldn't be molded to the exact shape but it would look damn cool with it. Also i'm not too sure on the BC rich dealer thing, give BC rich an email and they should give you an address/number for their UK distributor.

That IS his bass haha, they probably asked him for a picture of it to put on their site because he thought they did a good job. look at the brown patch of wood next to the fretboard, same bass  well spotted though :)

It's metal! BC rich customer service is good though. My friend bought a custom mockingbird from them, but they had routed the FR onto a knot in the wood so it literally just pulled out of the body, it was pretty much useless. So he rang them up, and instead of fixing it, they gave him a complete refund and let him keep the ruined guitar, so he flogged the hardware on ebay and ended up with more money than he started with.
Has there been any more news on UK Incase stockists?

They look awesome and I need something I can wear on my back and also take on the Tube.
Hey man, check out the Protec Contego as an Incase altenative >> http://www.protecmusic.com/items.aspx?Prod...ubCategoryID=45

They get a great write up and are a hell of a lot cheaper, certainly next on my list once my very very disappointing high end Ritter gig bag finally disintegrates, probably only be another couple of months...
I think our very own Bass Direct stocks 'em too >> www.bassdirect.co.uk

Cheers,
Eude

If anybody wants a cheap gig bag, i think tribal planet are the way to go. I got one with my musicman off the bay, it has really good padding, really good proetction at the bottom, good sized pockets, really comfortable and wide straps and the fastenings for the straps seem really solid. I'm not sure if it's waterproof or not but i'd assume so. anyway, i thought it would be a 40-50 quid job. Got on the net, 15 quid i think it said! well worth the money, and much better than the 25 quid westfield one i got! (my pound sign isn't working by the way)
