99ster Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 (edited) Following on from the Build Diary thread - here she is.... A restored 1960 Fender Jazz bass. Brought back to life after being abused, neglected and bunged on eBay. The serial number of 49940 indicates that it must have been one of the very first Jazz basses made. Having the serial number at the bottom of the neck plate is pretty rare – apparently this only happened during ‘59-60 (the famous Entwistle blonde Jazz has its serial number in this position too – though that serial is higher – it’s No. 51038). The neck date is July 1960. John from Bravewood told me that the Fender sales records show that the first jazzes were ordered around March 1960, but there's very little evidence of actual basses delivered before August 1960... A big thanks to the top man Mr Andy Viccars for all his hard work, skill and dedication: Edited November 24, 2007 by 99ster Quote
