JD1
Yep. Ready Freddie. There was an article and transcription in one of the bass magazines I seem to recall.

thebassmandave
Hey! Great post. I also wondered who played bass on Forget Me Nots for a long time until I saw Freddie play a bass clinic at The Bass Centre (when it was still in Wapping) and he talked about co-writing the song and played the bassline with a backing track. Will Smith had just sampled the bass part for that Men In Black tune and it was at number one, and here was Freddy (the day before playing a show with Michael Jackson at Wembley Stadium) doing a clinic instead of out celebrating or whatever. That impressed me, plus he was a nice guy, really apreciative of everyone who turned up on a Friday night to see his clinic. Anyway, another tune I wondered about - Joceyln Brown's Somebody Else's Guy? Another tune with (IMHO) a great bassline. Do any of you know who played bass on it? Cheers! SJA
Somebody else's guy sounds like a Jazz being slapped (Forget-me-nots was a P-bass)- could be Marcus Miller. Edited December 21, 2007 by SJA
