Clarky
Bought these only a couple of weeks ago, thinking I would convert my white P bass Sid to a P/J. Have since re-considered. Stock pic: [s]They are the 'Big P/J' set which is quite beefy sounding I believe (like the Thumpers). Here's the specs http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/shop.asp?ca...Bass&page=2 I paid £85 and have not taken them out of their box. So how does a 10% discount, or £77 delivered, sound fair?[/s] Edit: have split and sold the P pickup. The J is available at £35 delivered - it is a Wizard 84 bridge pickup Edited April 18, 2010 by Clarky

sub-a-dub
...Hmmmh. I have a Wizard precision-type pick-up that resides in a jazz-neck housing (custom built for, and bought from Gaffbass) that needs a bridge compadre... for eventual popping into one of my jazz basses! If you fancied splitting - maybe you considered using the P pup only(?) - I would be interested in the jazz pup to complete my set. Cheers, Sean

Cheers, Sean
Hi Sean I would split as P/J is a bit special interest! So based very roughly on the price ratios on the Wizard website (Ps are more expensive than Js), I would sell the J pickup for £37 delivered. How does that sound? The P would be £42 delivered (I know it adds up to £2 more than £77 but I would be incurring two lots of postage). Incidentally, I am not sure (as the specs on the website don't say) but going on the description (powerful, alnico 5 etc) I think the J must be a Wizard Hammer pickup which is £45 new on the Wizard website while the P must be a Wizard Thumper (£50 new on the website). Clarky
I have had confirmation from Wizard that the P is a Thumper J is an 84 The P is sold pending to a BC'er but the J is available for £37 delivered. According to the Wizard website http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/shop.asp?ca...ss&sub=Jazz Bass the 84s are "darker, bassier and generally dirtier than the Sixty-Fours, these pickups are overwound to lower the overall tone. Loud and proud these pickups will drive any group. The bridge has a dc of 10k ohms and the neck 9.5 k ohms. Complete with black covers and black and white hook-up wires." Clarky
As the Wizard 84 Jazzes are £40 each, I will make the price of the bridge Jazz pickup £35 delivered. Its brand new and unused so you save a fiver (>10%)

Mr Fudge
I modded a Jazz with 84's. Fantastic. Gave me some meat and growl missing from some Jap pups that came with the bass. Oozzes Geddy Lee tone IMO.

Clarky
Still available. Have confirmed with Andy at Wizard that its definitely a Wizard 84 Jazz pickup, not a Hammer. This is the "medium strength" Jazz pickup, between the vintage-style 64 and the super-beefy Hammer. Edited May 1, 2010 by Clarky
