Jigster
...not a Stingray, already got a 4 and the jury is forever out on it. I like em, but... so what else? never tried either sanberg or lakland, but have a hunch they're akin to the compressed Ray sound?
JTUK
Not sure about which maker, as there as so many factors, but make sure you hear the B string. This makes or breaks the bass, IMV, I would only buy a stock bass from a big standard name on the High St after trying it out. Wouldn't be buying blind, I am afraid..or deaf, in this case If I had to offer a name to look into.. Lakland 5502.
bubinga5
You know the Stingray 5 is a very different instrument to the 4...best B string i ever played yeah i would say 55-01/
Jigster
does the SR5 have that same nasal quality of the 4?

The bass EQ really adds some decent beef too

Has a naturally more open and rounder sound than the SR5 but you can dial in some bite when you need it with the two pups and 3 band eq. Great bass (as is the SR5)
cLepto-bass
Its all about the low B, has to be a Warwick.

Musicman20
The b is defintely the issue you need to be happy with. I tried a Warwick and their b was not for me. But, as you know, it's different tastes. Their 5 string neck proved hard work. The Ray and Lakland necks are a breeze to play.
Jigster
not that fussed with the B tbh - more about playing further up the neck where, to me anyway, it always sounds shweet
Schnozzalee
G&L L2500 has my vote value/versatility wise unless your looking for something more expensive. The Shuker PJ might be calling in the for sale forum??
d-basser
55-02, beautiful to play and very versatile, the MM pick up is split-able into either a Humbucker or either of the singles so there is a wide range of tones.
