Schnozzalee
Hey BCers, I was considering getting a refinish or a paintjob and was wondering who you would recommend for them and how much they cost. I would like a high quality job done, I've been checking out local art student for paintjobs but glossing and things like that I'm not sure where to go... Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers Oli Matt
Noisyjon
Sims Custom Shop are very good. Have a look at their price list HERE Hope that helps?
BarnacleBob
Simms quoted me the best part of £400 to refinish this - it was more expensive cos it was a translucent tint. I declined and sold it as is.
Schnozzalee
Thanks for the info Tom, definately an option, I know they'll do a pro job. Yikes £400 is a lil over what I'd be willing to pay for the whole guitar!! I was estimating around £300 but I see i'm very wrong. Hope your keeping well Bob! Clarky
A couple of years ago I had a Ricky 3000 (the Mani bass) refinished in fireglo by Sims (from mapleglo). Cost about £300 which I remember thinking eye-watering at the time. It was an absolutely superb job though.
Cat Burrito
I contacted Simms about doing a P-bass and I think it was around £300 (Jan 10). I think if it's just a respray in one colour it's cheaper. Obviously 3 colour sunburst and decals etc rock up the prices a bit. It also depends on the condition of your bass
BarnacleBob
If u are confident enough at stripping the bass down and just sending them the body for refinishing and then reassembling the bass yourself that should save quite a bit.
