I am selling this for a friend. Vintage Gibson Ripper Bass L9-S from 1976. Double cutaway Alder body, bold on maple neck, tunomatic bridge with the metal cover, two humbucker pickups, rotary switch!! Everything is 100% original. Has some marks as expected from a well played bass. The frets are still in great shape and hardware os clean, the neck is straight and it plays like a dream!!!. Comes with original hardcase. Pictures to follow

Price £680, grab it before I do

Ooooooh.
I have two grabbers and they're bloody great. Best basses i've ever had.
If I had the cash i'd grab this like. Always fancied trying a ripper. But alas, I;ve been bad and need to replace too much stuff.....

When he did his Kings Of The Wild Frontier re-invent? (After McLaren stole his backing band to make Bow Wow Wow). That was Kevin Mooney and I think he did have a ripper. He was replaced by Gary Tibbs after an "incident" on some TV show!

The current QOTSA bassist uses one of these, at least he did whenever I saw them on tour during the Summer, I think he also uses it in their latest video.

So....FREE BUMP! Great price!

I think he thought this was a Grabber. Hence the pun, "grab it while you can". :)

I had one of these about 15 years ago. I inherited it from our bass player (I was on vocals/guitar at the time) who had to move to Argentina because of work. I never really appreciated it's true value but really loved it's versatile sound. It got stolen from our rehearsal room in the end. :)

Hi Fleamail
Is it still up for grabs, I'm interested, and prefer your maple one to the black ones on here. I'm in North Yorkshire, where are you, in Greece?!!!! Its long way to come just to try it. You could email me on [email protected] if I dont get back to you by saturday, as i'm on holiday for a week.
Regards Rich

Is your Ripper still for sale?

If so, is it a natural body finish?

I have limited funds but may be interested. Whats the best price you could let it go for?

Thanks,

Pete J.
